To be true, the title of this thread should be "Best Donut PLACE" since we are talking about bakers rather than actual flavor of donut.
I prefer Dunkin Donuts and it is killing me that they are remodeling here in the Valley of the Sun and REFUSE to open in a timely fashion!!!
That said, thee absolute BEST donut I have ever had was in Newport Beach, CA. I eat donuts morning, noon and night when I go out there.

My wife makes the best donuts. Take dollar store biscuit dough, fry it in a pan, dip it in cinnamon glaze, cool on a plate, drip homemade milk chocolate icing over it.
Eat well, preferably with a Lipitor.

Mom used to do the exact same thing.
That's what we got when we wanted donuts. Powered sugar makes a great glaze too. sprinkles from cake decorations.
She was very creative.
