I.D. badges are long overdue. Security in this office park is a joke. Last year, I came to work with my spud gun in a duffel bag. I sat at my desk all day, with a rifle that shoots potatoes at 60 pounds per square inch. Can you imagine if I was deranged? - Dwight K. Schrute
One caution I think should be mentioned, that was not covered there......
Remember that when your heart rate starts increasing that also means that it is working harder. That's OK, as long as you don't damage the heart muscle by overworking it. That is one of, if not THE most common cause of heart failure, or serious heart damage.
It's good for the heart to "exercise", but like everything else, it can be overworked.
That's why, if you ARE overweight and/or your arteries are clogged or restricted, for any reason, too much stress "immediately" to an "un-conditioned" heart or too long of overworking can have some serious side affects.
If you have been a couch potato...very little or no exercise.....living on high carb food, (convenience/fast foods, sweets, baked goodys, pasta, beer, soda pop, etc)....you might do your heart some serious damage if you were to overstress it too much....too soon....by say...suddenly trying to become Arnold Swartzneger in one day (or a few weeks).
Healthy losing of weight will take some time. You all should see a nice drop early, primarily due to the "water loss" factor, but after that it will be a slow ....but steady...progression....if you stay with it.
Even if the only exercise is walking....that is sufficient in most cases. Working out at the gym can certainly have some extra, added benefits...no question.
A couple more points to remember about health and weight loss....
Remember we are all genetically unique. We DO inherit some genetic "predispositions" as to not only our "build" and "stature" or body "style", but also it's biochemical "BIOS".
In that sense, you have to take published "ideal" body weights with a little grain of salt. If you have inherited a "big boned" "stocky" (not fat) blueprint then you can make your body unhealthy also by trying to attain a weight that really is less than ideal for YOU THE UNIQUE INDIVIDUAL THAT YOU ARE!!!.
Some of that basic biochemical "BIOS" can be altered by changing lifestyle and/or eating habits.
....If your body is running, overall, anywhere near "reasonably" well.....listen to it......trust it....the more effeciently it runs....the more accurate the messages it will "send" you.
Mind if the newbie jumps in? I could stand to lose about 25 lbs. and I need to be held accountable. My wife is too nice and always says I look ok. But, I know better.

1st "official" workout in nearly a month - not bad - got to the gym @ 5:15 AM - waited 10 minutes for my bro - nearly separated my shoulder on incline DB flies & almost blew my shoulder out of my socket on weighted dips, but all is A-OK.
Somebody go try that new wrap thingy from Subway and let me know if if tastes good. I figure if I eat a whole one and then like leave 2 bites on the second one, that would be 20 carbs for the day
