I did Atkins and it was a good quick fix but I didn't feel I had the energy or strength to work out with the same amount of weights. Once I removed my self from the diet I gained all the weight back fast. The major problem with cutting Carbs out is that your body needs them to survey and your body will start to eat way your muscle. I was using the Zone Diet and this worked very well it is a balanced diet. Unfortunately since my wife has been pregnant we have since devoted from the diet. Right now I am 230lbs and want to get down to 205lbs. I am in and would be looking for a work out partner at Golden's Gym on Gilbert and Southern.

25lbs or bust

I smell a challenge! (or maybe it is Chris' roomate's raunchy farts)

Chris...I challenge you that I can lose 25 lbs on Atkins before you can loose your 8. When I was playing baseball I hit the floor and could never get lower than 175...no matter how in shape I was I could never get down to 165 (which is the target healthy weight for my height)

That was my gym too when I lived at Gilbert and McKellips. I signed up because they had this 1 year no contract deal for $99.00. Now I go to LA Fitness on Mill and Southern because I have to work 3 nights a week so it is right by my office

Hmm...I will take that challenge.

I am only 5'10. I think I can make it. I was down as far as 178 when I was running 3 miles every other day...then I got sick of killing myself

Also....no offense to anyone here this is a comment in jest

I think it is funny that I and so many people like me defend Atkins because we either have done it or know someone who has and succeeded..... yet we have no medical training and basically are just believing what they feed us

Well you might have noticed that I have never said that the diet won't work. You will lose weight.

I just have concerns about the long term effects based on my knowledge of how the human body works.

Now the whole raunchy farts and possibility of a low sex drive...that seals it.

You should rename this to "ASFN Fat Men's Challange."

JK guys, I've jumped from 220 to 235 since just before Christmas.

Good luck to dieters

The only reason I am defending it is because I like bacon and cheese.

I say the contest officially starts Monday January 11th and goes until all official applicants reach their goal weight. I want one more weekend of binge drinking and carbohydrates!!!

I aint stopping until I can squeeze my ass into a 34" pair of Guess jeans or I reach 199 LBS
