I watched the first episode. That one black guy is huge! Good luck to all of them. I couple of the women won't make it without therapy- there are bigger issues being hidden by their weight.

My wife and I have watched the first 2 episodes.
Dramatic weight loss by nearly everyone in week 1, but a huge dropoff by everyone in week 2. Only a couple of pounds lost by most and I'm pretty sure one person even gained weight.
It's definitely getting that Survivor kind of feel to it now that people have gotten to know one another.
Likely to be some highly emotional confrontations down the road...

It's water weight. Most people burn more water than fat when they begin working out, so they have these great gains the first week or two. The next month will be hard on all of them, because they can easily work their arses off and only lose a pound or two every week.

Most people get mad about a pound. Every pick a 1 pound weight up. Its noticable! If you lose 3 pounds man that is a feat!
I have a friend who wants to lose 35 pounds. I walked him out to my garage and said here pick this up and pointed to one of the 35 pounders for my bench press. He groaned as he picked it up and I said thats how much extra weight your body is carrying.
It opened a whole new perspective for him.

When I play rock, paper, scissors, I keep a glass of water in my hand and when my opponent throws down I throw the water in his face and say "Water". Beats all three, scissors can't cut-it, paper dissolves and the rock sinks. Plus it usually surprises the hell out of them.

Way to go, Matt !!
Eastern Iowan Is NBC's "Biggest Loser"
November 29, 2005
Fans of NBC's popular weight-loss series, 'The Biggest Loser' are sad to see this season come to an end. An eastern Iowa contestant had a lot at stake in the show's grand finale.
"Hi NBC. My name is Matt Hoover, I'm 28 years old and I live in Marion, Iowa," Matt Hoover said on his audition tape. At 340 pounds, Matt tells about his big dream...to lose big. He used to be a top-notch athlete...and a champion wrestler at the University of Iowa. "I haven't always been big. In college, I wrestled 177 and 190 pounds. I was an elite athlete, I once had potential, you know, possibly being an Olympian and now I'm 340 pounds and could hardly walk up a set of stairs," he says.
Matt says he got lazy. He quit working out, and started eating and drinking more than ever. That all changed when he was invited to compete on "NBC's The Biggest Loser." It's a reality series that offered Matt a chance to undergo a radical physical makeover without any kind of surgery.
"Probably more important than the weight I lost was finding out who I was again and I didn't have to settle for the life I was leading, being lazy stuck in a rut," Matt says.
But the competition wasn't over! Now, Matt would have to keep the weight off on his own...at home. Friends and fans gathered in Cedar Rapids to watch him compete in the show's live finale. After months of training and careful eating, Matt lost an amazing 157 pounds. It was enough to make eastern Iowa fans proud, and give Matt the biggest loser title.
"Very proud of him, unbelievably proud of him. He's already motivated me and a number of other club members," one friend said.
"It's a major life change for him. He looks awesome," another said.
Matt Hoover, a true eastern Iowa inspiration, now celebrated across the country.

It bugs me that the other contestants don't get any money. You would think the networks would have to pay the talent at least actor's scale.
