The wife and I really enjoyed last night's episode. It answered the questions popped up in last years finale and also added some good twists to the relationships. Very interesting character with Castiel. The only concern I have is that the story of Supernatural has always had a "the little guy" vs "insurmountable odds" feel to it for me. The odds have always been stacked against them, which made each episode have a nervousness of "how are they going to get out of this alive?" It also made the scares jump up quite a bit. Given what's developed with Sam, and given the introduction of Castiel, are they now basically bullet proof, thereby removing the feel of danger for them?
Spoiler:
It could be interesting to see if Sam (who's working with a demon) ends up in an apocalyptic battle with Dean (who's working with an angel apparently) but I'm hoping that's not the direction they're going with this.
Concerning your spoiler I think it would make a great story line.
Spoiler:
You know the whole power corrupts type thing. Just think about it. Why would the angle be aligning himself with Dean and not the more powerful Sam. But then again this whole angel thing could just be a trick and the power that Sam has is the real deal from God instead. Could be the real switch a roo that suspensful type shows like to pull out of there hats. A battle between those two not knowing who is right and who is wrong might make for a great season ending story line. Leading to the next season hopefully where they try and get there relationship back together. Anyways I think that the angel guy is really Lucifer, Lucifer was an angel after all.

Interesting idea Joe. That could work but:
Spoiler:
Part of the big appeal of this show is Sam and Dean's relationship. Having the two of them fighting each other would take out a lot of the humor and heart that perfectly counter balances the horror and darkness most of the plots revolve around. I'm not saying it wouldn't be a good story but I think it would too drastically change what's kept the show going and what's drawn people into it. If it's more of a cliff hanger deal to end the season then I'd be all for it. Like they realize that they're on opposite sides and "what's going to happen?" Regardless, I'm sure that Kripke has it all mapped out and we're going to enjoy the ride.
Glad to see you here posting about Supernatural, it needs more love.

People of Mars, you say we are brutes and savages. But let me tell you one thing: if I could get loose from this cage you have me in, I would tear you guys a new Martian ***hole. You say we are violent and barbaric, but has any one of you come up to my cage and extended his hand? Because, if he did, I would jerk it off and eat it right in front of him. “Mmm, that’s good Martian,” I would say. - Jack Handey

Yeah, they've done a really good job of making it "large scale" without having to go big budget.
Very cool spin on who their mom was...really liked that. It is shaping up to look like a clash between Dean and Sam though, which will be interesting.
It's a shame that Supernatural has to go up against the Office every week, virtually impossible to draw viewers away (Hurray for DVR's though, I'd hate to have to choose).

The show if finally back on track for me. I was missing the "brother banter" and didn't like how the season started much. The last couple episodes definitely feel like Supernatural again. Can't say I was a huge fan of the entire angel story line but when they threatened to wipe out the town it started to get interesting.
