I think it's more of a cross between X-Files and BTFS/Angel. It has lots of demons and talks about that mythology yet they treat each one more case like a la X-files.

I really like the show.

For those still following:

Because of the writer's strike, Supernatural's third season will consist of 16 episodes. The CW has ordered four additional episodes on top of the 12 currently airing. The final four episodes of the season will begin April 24th. On March 3rd, the CW announced the pickup of the show for a 4th season.

The last episode "Jus in Bello" rocked...if you missed it you can watch it here:

The last 3 or 4 episodes have been brilliant. This is one of those shows that gets better and better with age.

bump

If you haven't watched the show yet, now would be a good time to go to the website and catch up on it. 10 days until it comes back and you'll definitely want to know the story line.

It's very entertaining and chalk full of good creepy feelings.

Interesting show last night. They did a good job of mixing comedy and frights. I think that had to be the most graphic death scene on network television and I was kind of surprised they were able to get it past the censors...and the "Dicks" line.

That said, I really enjoyed it.

Actually, there was a much gorier death earlier in the season involving a table saw.

I thought in that one they just implied what was going on (Wasn't that when Dean went ballistic on a vampire?)

No, it was an opening before the title screen comes up. Just some guy working in his garage, and some entity pushes him back onto his running table saw. I work with that show a lot, and man, I couldn't BELIEVE they showed that.

I really like this show. IMO it's the closest thing on TV to a Buffy/Angel type show. This show is more dark then either of those but still has humor. Also, I love the edgy language and the occasional "splatter". This show has always teetered on the edge on a few fronts.

Totally agree. I also love that this show genuinely has the ability to give me the creeps or raise the hairs on my arms. I've never watched a tv show that comes as close to this at delivering scares each week.

Glad it'll be back for season 4.

Speaking of season 4, I thought you might find this interesting.

http://www.buddytv.com/articles/supe...-bu-18788.aspx

Looks like the executives told Kripke to open things up and make it on a grander scale. So, we got the whole demon war and the episode Magnificent 7. Now, they're not so thrilled with the big budget and want it scaled back.

Honestly, I like the smaller scale approach better anyway. Keeping things on the smaller scale keeps it more real to me, and fosters more of a connection with the audience and the peril that they're in.
