It's interesting to see what they're doing with the Lex/Lana relationship and the Lionel/Martha relationship.
In the comics, depending on who's writing it, sometimes the motivation for Lex to hate Superman is that he isn't human, yet he's admired by the world and accepted--and Lex isn't. In fact, Lex is almost universally hated and feared rather than loved and respected. So, I think they're setting up some seeds for this kind of dynamic--where Lex as he shows his most vulnerable or "human" side is pushed away by Lana who pines for Clark who isn't human at all.

I find it interesting that Lex says he's reached out to Clark, but they don't show that actually happening.
It's crazy that Chloe who is has the biggest mouth in the world is keeping such a secret.
I thought last night's show was a precursor to him possibly getting a little more involved in crime fighting. Chloe questioning him about working as a reporter by day and crime fighter at night. His pursuit for justice (albeit related more to his guilt about the watch).
Good episode.
It was a lot more sad than the episode when his dad actually died. Clark was actually breaking down as the credits rolled.

About the Smallville – Superman crossover:
We had a discussion with Bryan Singer and even if we're kept to the secret for the moment, we can tell you that something's going to happen in the fifth season of Smallville that will have an impact on the Superman Returns movie.
VERY INTERESTING......
I basically stopped reading this thread after this post. I basically ONLY watch TV when I buy it on DVD, so it will be until FREAKIN SEPTEMBER that I get to watch Season 5. It is ok though, I still have 24:S4, Buffy Chosen Collection and Veronica Mars to keep me happy while I am playing with my DS and playing poker online.
Great episode...I knew Lionel knew something about Clark...
Wasnt Jar-El(sp?) speaking through Lionel at the fortress of solitude in one episode or something like that.
I dont think it is to far off to believe that Lionel has known about Clark since that episode, and that he is protecting him in some way as he may still have those fatherly type feelings for him lingering since Jar-el left his body or spirit or what ever. Dont think he has any malice what so ever towards Clark. In fact I think at one point Lionel will pick Clark over his own son at one point being apart of the Clark/Lex fued later on, that and Lana.
I've missed most of this season, so rather than try to catch the occasional episode, I'm going to wait until it comes out on DVD.
Thats me too. I dont even like clicking on the thread, as I am afraid of a spoiler. We will have to wait until September. Unfortunately I paid near full price ($30) for it in Sept, and near X-mas time, it was selling near $14.99) I love the show enough to buy it early though.
Another good season finale from the writers of Smallville...
I got chills with the World growing dark, Lex looking like Neo from the Matrix and the Superman-ish music at the end with Clark stuck in the prism jail thing...
Awesome...
