Watching it from the beginning and knowing the characters makes it much more interesting.

Great scene with Jason and Matt in tonight's episode.
Totally agree...I got a bit welled up in that scene...you could maybe glimpse something Jason could do in the next four years...be a QB coach or something, also seeing him bond again with his buddies was awesome.
Another great episode.
Lila though went a bit nuts at the end.

gee - it's a drama about a small town - football happens to be the tie that binds - other than that it's just people living - being a country boy I can somewhat relate (although upstate NY thankfully isn't small town texas)
the characters are real, I love the way the program is shot and if you watch any of the bonus material on NBC they throw a lot of surpises and twists at the cast and just film their reactions to get authenticity
street & matt was awesome - i also dig the tattoo chick and it's obvious how layla is trying to destroy the world around her by controlling too much and eventually driving everyone away
also really enjoyed the scenes of tyra and her mother
was great seeing street bond with his boys and seeing him get shunned by the clerk
