Covert Affairs (USA)
Piper Perabo gets another chance at stardom. I wasn't expecting much from the show but I really loved the pilot. Reminded me a little bit of the unaired/unfinished Veronica Mars continuation episode. For those that liked that kind of show, this is definitely worth checking out.

I enjoyed it quite a bit, too. The trailers never really had me, and Peter Gallagher is such a total turn-off -- but I watched the pilot and got hooked pretty quickly.

Wife and I loved the pilot...seems like a more intense Alias.

The show is okay for the first 2 eps. Harmless summer fun.
I wonder how real the device the blind guy uses to walk around is? Secondly how can he have taken an IED to the face but have no scars to show?
Thirdly, hate the casting of Dr. Suresh from Heroes.

Yep but it isn't trying to be anything else. (And it is more entertaining than some of the "B Grade" realty stuff, "You're Cut Off" seriously? What are you thinking VH1?).
Blind dude does have some cool toys; no scars because it is a light hearted look and scars would make it too harsh.
Don't like new guy much anyway doesn't really matter who they cast, it may be the point; we aren't supposed to like him.

I thought the latest episode was well-done and good fun. Show looks like a keeper.

OK, firmly hooked on this show. It's generally well-written, acted, good action -- and I was impressed that for the only time I can ever recall on TV or movies, they had a Mossad guy who was played like he was a a real Israeli. Good character, hope he shows up again. (Sure, they had to do the hackneyed 'rogue Mossad agent' gimmick too, and I can see a definite risk of them falling into several of the usual old tropes with plot and characters, but so far they seem to be treading the line reasonably well.)

My wife and I also liked it. Piper Perabo is getting a rare 2nd chance. My brother who works in the biz had heard time and time again after Coyote Ugly what a big head she had and that she was difficult to work with from an attitude perspective. Then he ended up on the same set and confirmed it first hand. Soon after that she disappeared but popped up every now and then. Hopefully, she has learned and has success. This show can make it IMO.
