The moderator of tomorrow's vice-presidential debate is writing a book to come out on the day the next president takes the oath of office that aims to "shed new light" on Democratic candidate Barack Obama and other "emerging young African American politicians" who are "forging a bold new path to political power."
Gwen Ifill of the Public Broadcasting Service program "Washington Week" is promoting "The Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama," in which she argues the "black political structure" of the civil rights movement is giving way to men and women who have benefited from the struggles over racial equality.
Ifill declined to return a WND telephone message asking for a comment about her book project and whether its success would be expected should Obama lose. But she has faced criticism previously for not treating candidates of both major parties the same.
i ain't even gonna pretend this woman will be 100% objective, but truth be told, I don't care either. by hook or by crook, any way to get into the White House is fine with me.
and if the McCain Campaign is gonna complain, look in the mirror and ask yourself why you didn't do all due diligence in finding out who the mods would be considering they announced her book two weeks before they announced her position as moderator. In other words, if you do you're homework, you won't get nailed by a pop-quiz. And I'd say the same for Obama's people if the opposite was reversed.
In the great words of Jesse Ventura: Win if you can, lose if you must, but always cheat. The Reps have mastered this art of elections for some time. About time the Dems joined in the party.

Unfortunately, the Reps will use this "bias" as spin to justify Palin's drubbing. They'll claim the whole debate was stacked against her. She got beat up by a bunch of bullies, yadda, yadda. It was her against the world on that debate stage. In fact, I'm sure that the McCain campaign has already written the press releases for direct distribution to Fox news one minute after the debate ends stating as much.
I say get a new moderator. I want someone as impartial as possible.
i say if there was an objection to be made, it should have been a month ago, not 1 day before hand. As far as I'm concerned the McCain camp made their bed and now they've got to lie in it.

that was my first thought when I heard a) this book was public knowledge 2 weeks before she named moderator b) the McCain camp crying foul just one day before.
again, if they call for a new mod, how is this different than last week when they tried to control when the debate was going to place?
If the above happens, it's just one more stunt to add on to a series of stunts from a rudderless campaign.

If they did actually call for a new mod, then I don't think the Obama/Biden campaign would get in their way. Doubt they will though because it helps them politically to point out the issue without acting to correct the perceived injustice.
