Thompson is officially in.
http://www.fred08.com/index.aspx
Here is his video announcement from his website. It has not been posted on youtube yet. I like what he has to say. IMHO he comes off as a real normal guy talking from his heart. He might be the candidate that Republicans have been looking for. He might be my guy after I do some more research.
Highlights:
He touches on his foundations of:
He mentions that he place term limits on himself in the Senate. (I love that)
common sense conservativism
federalism!!! Not every problem has a federal solution.
free markets
judges interpret the constitution
national defense-terrorism (typical stuff)
deficit financing is economically unsustainable
dependence on oil:
A spike in oil prices has always led to a recession. What we need is a spike in American ingenuity and creativity
health care = massive bureaucracy, people can make better health care choices for themselves than the government or corporations.
illegal immigration (nothing of real substance).

I know the guy has been sick, and that is bad. However, I am skeptical he will present well enough on TV.

anti-choice? Does that make you anti-life? Pro-choice and pro-life are both worthless spin terms. He's anti-abortion. You are pro-abortion.

More labels to frame an argument. Pro-abortion sounds worse than pro-choice right?

Not true at all. Im not "FOR" abortion. I find the idea abhorrent. However, Its not mine nor any governments right to say who can or cannot have this done. its that simple. I'm for a woman's right to choose, and he is against woman having that choice. Its not spin. Its definitive.

Not sure how my theory will hold up FT vs. Hillary, but I bet it is why Clinton beat Dole.

You sound like a politician. We could argue over semantics all day. The fact is you are for abortion being legal.
edit: After your response, I'll let it be to risk further hi-jacking this thread.

He's far better than the Mitts and Rudys and McLames in the race. I'd vote for him over Hilary, but probably not Obama, although Obama's fiscal platform has yet to be laid out and I'm sure there is a big fat raising of taxes in it.
Again, is this still the best we can do for a mainstream candidate? Jeez.
Will he be the first president with an actual trophy wife?
