i've read that McCain supporters went for Huck so Romeny wouldn't get the delegates as McCain was polling well behind in the state

CNN mentions it a few times as does fox news

this is from fox news

Quote:
The former Arkansas governor won with 51.5 percent to Romney’s 47.4 percent, pulling ahead after John McCain’s delegates apparently defected to his side.

The convention had to go into a second round of voting after no candidate took a clear majority the first time. Texas Rep. Ron Paul was knocked out, and Huckabee, Romney and McCain moved forward.

Paul finished fourth with 10 percent among the 1,133 participating delegates in the first round, while Romney took 41 percent and Huckabee took 33 percent. McCain, who started the day in New York City before heading to California, reached the second round with 15 percent.

But before Huckabee’s surprising turnaround in the second round, McCain delegates told FOX News they had been instructed by the campaign to throw their support to Huckabee.

McCain delegate John Vuolo said former Louisiana Gov. Buddy Roemer approached him and other McCain supporters at the convention and told them he had spoken to McCain, and that the best thing to do was to support Huckabee in the hope that Huckabee could beat Romney in this winner-take-all state.

Wow ballzy move by the McCain camp. Except it might give Huck some false hope and have him stay in longer than he should.

I think he'll drop out after today. Maybe not tomorrow, but within the next week. McCain / Romney will be too far ahead of him to catch up.

Indonesia's unofficial vote tally. I haven't seen any other results come in from the Foreign Democratic Primary. I believe that it's still open.

[EDIT] - Overseas voting starts today and will continue until Feb 12 2008.

Paul has a deal with Huckabee for 3 delegates from WV in exchange for backing him the second vote.

17% of the delegates for 10% of the vote. Such a deal.

In return Huckabee gets 15 delegates instead of the 0 he would have if Romney had won.

Ron Paul Secures Three Delegates in West Virginia State Convention
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

February 5, 2008

ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA – In today’s West Virginia Republican State Convention, Republican candidate Ron Paul’s campaign secured three of the 18 national delegates up for grabs.

“Our goal is to secure as many delegates to the national GOP convention in Minneapolis-St. Paul as possible,” said Ron Paul 2008 campaign manager Lew Moore. “Securing three delegates in West Virginia is an important step in that direction. We plan on locking up more delegates before the day ends.”

In an agreement first reported by West Virginia television station WSAZ, the three Ron Paul delegates were secured through an agreement with the Mike Huckabee campaign.

Ron Paul delegates to the state convention swung their support to Huckabee – putting Huckabee over the top – after Congressman Paul was eliminated in the first round of voting. With three national delegates, Ron Paul secured 17 percent of the 18 delegates that were decided at the State Convention.

Smart move by Paul supporters...goal is to get a brokered convention, and helping Huck helps there, plus three more national delgates.

Georgia's polls have closed. I guess they're withholding results so it doesn't affect other states closing later?

I dont see how doing so would matter in a primary.
