Well, to counter that, here in Little Rock there are at least 4 Obama stickers, yard signs, or buttons to every McCain one. Of course I think Pulaski County (Little Rock metro) will go blue while the rest of the state goes red. But people here aren't voting FOR McCain, they're voting AGAINST Obama

Are thay voting against Obama for THAT reason, or is it something else (not being a wise arse.... I'm just curious)?

What reason would THAT be? Color? I honestly don't know. Arkansas politics is an odd, odd beast. Strongly vote Democrat on a local level, but lately voting Republican on a national one.

Yes.... I was referring to color. It's definitely a factor on a nationwide basis, but it's stronger in some places than others. I was just curious to your take on it...

As seen more than once a week in the editorials:
Quote:
Values are not shared
Many are exclaiming their allegiance to Barack Obama as the best choice for president. But upon what are they basing their support?
They worship at the altar of Obama while attacking Sarah Palin. Obama’s support comes because of his race and eloquence in speaking. Palin is attacked because of her religion and the actions of her teen-age daughter. The liberals are operating as usual: When you cannot win on the issues, attack the person. Letter writer Kathy Hemmer should realize that your children don’t always do as you teach them.
I am not voting McCain/Palin because there is a woman on the ticket or because Palin and I are both Assembly of God. I am voting for John McCain and Palin because of their accomplishments in their respective offices, because they closely share my values and because they put the people before the party. This has been proved by their actions.
Someone should not receive our vote simply because he is an African American. I am not voting against Barack Obama because of his race or religious preference. I am voting against him because he is the most liberal candidate for president I have witnessed in my lifetime. I am voting against Obama because his values are not my values. Nor do I believe that they are the values of most Americans. I am voting against Obama because the United States of America is as close to being a socialist nation as I would ever want her to be.

Kinda a "I'm going to make such a point that it should not be about race" doth protest too much.

Yeah.... I caught that, too. The only thing missing from this guy's letter is "...some of my best friends are black...."

I have a good friend who lives in Fairfield Bay Arkansas which is about 60 to 90 minutes north of Little Rock. His son worked in Little Rock and made the drive to and from everyday.
Sadly he was stopped for speeding awhile back and the sheriff was white. The sheriff in his thickest southern accent outright told the kid "boy you sure are lucky you is white, otherwise things would be different."
That is a sad state of affairs IMO.

That about matches the campaign spending difference doesn't it...
Actually, I don't think Obama has spent jack in AR compared to other states. I think AR and AK are two of the only states he hasn't visited. We've been left since the primary. Supposedly he is setting up an office in North Little Rock soon.
