Other than he hasn't declared as a candidate yet, what do you think makes him non-credible?

Well, he's very libertarian and I don't know if America could get behind him. Look, even with Obama's popularity right now he's polling behind Clinton, and loses to Guliani and McCain.

So you would vote for him but he's not credible. Hmmm.
Does that make him incredible?
I guess we will find out if there are any real republicans left, if there ever was such a thing. People see to pay lip service to smaller government but here is a real small government candidate and to a conservative voter he isn't credible? I think that is pretty sad.

Obama is NO libertarian.

of course not, and I didn't say he was. However, he does have a very different philosphy than most politicians, as does Obama. They are both outsider-type candidates, and my example of Obama trailing was a comment on him having rock star status and still not winning, and Ron Paul hasn't got rock star status.

Actually I will vote for him in the primary, but he most likely won't win it. He won't even get a sniff at the general election, but I'll do my part.

Why do you think that is?
Will most people not know about him, know about him and not understand, or know and understand but disagree.
The interesting thing will be to see how many Republicans actually believe that smaller government is better government.

All their empty rhetoric is why I re-registered as an Independent over 10 years ago. Now a guy who actually walks the walk and most likely he will be ignored or run over by the political machine. With not enough people that understand or even actually care that much about it. Instead it will be a popularity contest between who can promise the most favors from the public trough.
Thanks Jon

Glad to cheer you up
It will be interesting to see how someone like Rep Paul fares in the Republican primaries. My guess is that the average Republican Primary voter is more concerned about a candidate's stance on abortion or gay marriage than on his stance on pork or big government.

Well from what I know he is pro-life but against the marriage amendment.
The real interesting issues I think will be how Republicans respond to his Anti-war or Anti-Fed stance. I think those could be his biggest negatives, to the Republican establishment at least.

Maybe he needs to pull a Jimmy Carter. When he started his campaign, he was given 0 chance of getting the nomination.

I don't think some people will like the "we can't afford it, we're broke" message true or not.
