Prediction: Michigan is Paul's Strongest Showing
I think the screwy Democrat ballot in Michign may give Paul a boost tonight, so much so it gets him into double-digits and the recognition he needs to launch a 3rd party bid after February 5th.

Mitt wants the Federal Govt to help Michigan's one-state recession? Not very Republicanfreemarket of him.

No, but it's very "I'm stumping in Michigan" of him.

Ron Paul is dead in the water no matter how much support he has in Michigan. A 3rd party bid would be a circus act that has no chance of winning. Either you call yourself a republican or you dont.

Boo.
I think he and all of his supporters know he doesn't have a chance. But, that's not the point. The point is that there IS room for a third party. Paul, by running as a republican is able to take advantage of the publicity that comes along with the primaries.
He's taking 10% of the vote from a crowded republican field with ideas that don't give with the party. Doesn't that tell us that there should be something offered the American people other than what the two bloated, stagnant parties offer us?

The constantly changing rhetoric of the Ron Paul fan. Simply fascinating.

Pariah has been the champion around here for getting another party on the ballot...consistently. He's against labels, and feels there's more room in the political arena for more than just "democrat" and "republican".

I see what you are saying. I just dont agree with it. Ron Paul has always claimed the Republican party and was elected to the House as a Republican. He has ran for president uner the label Republican.
I agree that it would nice to have a viable 3rd party candidate. Problem is we dont. Ron Paul switching and becoming an independent or whatever 3rd party affilitation he may choose wont change that. He will still be just a dog and pony show that has no chance of winning who deep down still feels he is a Republican.
BTW Ron Paul came in at just 6% in Michigan with 53,000 votes.

Paul received 6% of the vote in Michigan... He is toast... I don't say that with venom or glee - it's just a fact...

Also, he is currently running as a Republican, but ran previously as a Libertarian.

I'm not really concerned with Michigan either. New Hampshire was a tough one though. Nevada is still a good state for a good showing.
Ron is sitting on 17 million that he's going to use for Super Tuesday, but he needs a better showing in SC, Florida or Nevada before then. I think Nevada might be his best shot. He needs to grab a 15% and he'd have a good shot to make some noise, IMO.
The other guys don't have much money...that's his last ace in the hole.
