Palin v. Lyda Green Gate

This storm just keeps brewing.

Gov. Palin laughs like a school girl during an interview when the radio guy calls her political rival the female dog word. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AKkydrUnBZE
This is coming back to bite her as the rival, Alaska Senate President Lyda Green, is telling the press that Palin is not qualified to be Govenor, let alone VP. http://voices.kansascity.com/node/1964
Other state politicians where shocked at her selection as McCain's VP. http://www.adn.com/politics/story/510249.html

Here is Wikipedia's rundown of their apparent ongoing dispute:

Green (born October 16, 1938 in Livingston, Texas) is a Republican member of the Alaska Senate, representing the G District since 1995. She is currently the Senate President. [1]

Relationship with Sarah Palin

Green has been critical of her fellow Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin, John McCain's vice presidential running mate. Green said "she's not prepared to be governor. How can she be prepared to be vice president or president? Look at what she's done to this state. What would she do to the nation?", while referring to an oil tax increase Palin pushed through an award of a $500 million state subsidy to a Canadian firm to pursue a natural gas pipeline that is not guaranteed.[2]

Earlier in January 2008, Palin had been involved in a mild controversy in an appearance on the KWHL radio program "The Bob and Mark Show." During the show, Palin and host Bob Lester repeatedly criticized Green, accused her of being jealous of Palin's success, and mocked Green's weight. Lester went on to call Green a "cancer" and a "bitch," to which Palin laughed several times.[3][4] Green is a cancer survivor. Several days later, Palin's office addressed the controversy, stating that she was "caught off guard" by Lester's comments.[5]

There we go, I was wondering about that.

I've heard them say, she got a pipeline done that has been trying to get done for 30 years.

She delivers, she's a doer. That's what they were saying.

No, it seems she's a shill.

I was thinking when I heard about that pipeline...there was probably a good reason it wasn't built for 30 years.

Because those before her, didn't want the state and people of Alaska to be screwed over by a pipeline deal that favored the oil (or whatever) company(ies).

Well I can see now how she get's stuff done. She just bends over and give them what they want. A 500 million subsidy, to get it done. Yep that would probably qualify as bending over.

Do I read that right that they get the money, but the pipeline might not have to be built?

So basically here is 500 million, and if we don't bend over further over say environmental issues, you can keep the 500 million, and we still don't have a pipeline.

Now that's what I call a reformer. What a joke.

Oh and she laughs about cancer jokes. Maybe some one should make a down syndrome joke...nah no one should let her off that easy.

It just confirms that she is a bigot. She hates gays, so if you can hate another person based on their genetics and eventual sexuality, why not someones genetics and their risk for getting cancer? It's in the same ballpark.

How can anyone like this lady? She's a dog. A female one.

You're starting to do what you're saying Palin does. My grandaddy always told me "don't be like them if you don't like them".

Did McGovern's original VP choice quit, or was he replaced on the ticket? I don't remember the technicality of what happened.

He quit, after some embarrassing revelations (insert joke about Ed being crazy here) that he received electroshock therapy for mental illness.

Here's a NY times obit on Thomas Eagleton who died at age 77 in 2007. I was working on the McGovern campaign at the time as a foot soldier. One of those people who hung flyers on doors and talked to the other kids at the university I was attending. Rough going that one.

I knew about the electroshock therapy, but all the shows I've watched on McGovern say he was forced to pick a new VP, but they never mention if he quit or was replaced.

Oh, I'm sure the campaign pressured him into quitting, but technically he did quit.

Realistically, it's fair to say he got booted and replaced.

Duckjake was a McGovernik? I don't believe it.

You can see from the article that pressure was put on McGovern to get TE to withdraw which Eagleton eventually did.

I always thought that Gaffe helped doom McGovern.

Tonight they just read a release from the McCain camp saying Palin wasn't vetted by the McCain vetting head until the Thursday before announcing her on Friday. They say she said she told them her daughter was pregnant then. They said McCain still went with Palin. That's what they said went down from the McCain camp.

lol. I have a female dog, they aren't so bad, in fact my Pit bull imo is the best dog I've ever personally known.

But when someone is so hardline, and through her actions pushes people down for her own interests, I can see someone saying that she is one.

I get the connection. lol

I guess I should make a distinction between a good one and a bad one. Not all are the same. She's the bad one, my pit bull is a good one.

I got caught with a figure of speech, that playfully contradicts my opinion, it is rather funny.
