WASHINGTON, Pennsylvania (CNN) – This might not be the best way to reach out to those disillusioned Hillary Clinton supporters.
In just her second appearance on the campaign trail with John McCain, newly-minted GOP running mate Sarah Palin was showered with boos on Saturday for attempting to praise Clinton’s trail-blazing bid to become the first female president.
As she did at in her debut speech in Ohio yesterday, Palin appealed to the women in the crowd here in Pennsylvania with a political shout-out to Geraldine Ferraro, who preceded Palin as the first women to be tapped as a vice presidential candidate. The reference was met with polite applause.
But in contrast with the mild reception that greeted the comment at the Ohio event, when Palin praised Clinton here for showing “determination and grace in her presidential campaign,” the Alaska governor was met with a noisy mix of boos, groans and grumbles around the minor league ballpark where the “Road to the Convention Rally” was held.
Palin quickly recovered, promising the audience that female candidates weren’t yet finished, and that she and McCain were on their way to victory in November.

FWIW, I thought the Biden choice was a smart move by Obama... However, I do look forward to seeing the Biden-Palin debates... I think she just might surprise the 'ol man...
I know, I was just being a little sacrastic towards Liac's title of the thread.
1st off, Its not my title; it is CNN's title.
Secondly, Palin has to worry about going to the Clinton pandering well already because--lets face it--Republicans HATE Hillary Clinton and she will come off as a very condesending choice, for it will seem the McCain campaign is of the mindset that Women voters vote based on gender and not the issues.

The interactive survey shows that 22% of those voters who supported Democrat Hillary Clinton in their primary elections or caucus earlier this year are now supporting John McCain.

My apologies...I didn't link to the article.

Well, the way I read this, is Palin can't win over the right wing mentioning Hillary. She also can't win over Hillary voters with her right wing positions, so she'll get boos from them, too. She needs a different way of making this point, imho.

Sigh... Stefan, could it possibly be that they are voting for McCain not because he added Palin to the ticket, but rather because they are protesting their party? That's a huge leap you're taking. Even if they were voting for Hilary largely because she's a woman, that doesn't mean they are going to vote for just any woman.
Everything I've heard suggests the later. They seem to believe that Hilary's only chance to serve as President is to have McCain win now so that she can run again in 4 years. If she had to wait 8, she'd be 68. Their vote isn't for Palin or even McCain, it's against Obama and their percieved wrong doing.

Sure, I already said as much in another thread. Some votes are going to be votes against Obama. We'll take those as well. I am just saying that an average woman is more likely to vote for Palin than for Romney, that's all.

Correct. That is the mistake the McCain campaign made if they selected Palin to win over the unhappy Clinton females. Given a choice between Barack and Hillary they would go with the woman. Given the choice between Obama and a very conservative woman they'll go with Obama.
PS of course this is just my opinion. We're op-ed here not news journalists.

I think she could surprise a lot of people, but I doubt that Biden will take the debates so lightly that he won't prepare as if he's debating a 20-year Washington vet. But Palin isn't a some goof, she's a very smart woman. For people to look at her experience and think otherwise is a mistake.

Oh, I am not at all suggesting that Biden wouldn't be prepared. The guy is very well-versed on a myriad of matters. Has experience from within the Beltway up the ying-yang...
If all goes well, he will attempt to put on display his vast, Washington DC experience!
You know - Obama is all about change after all...
I think Palin has a shot to totally expose Biden as not a change-agent at all, but much, much more of the same than either she or McCain. It will take a bit of Rove-type influence to craft the narrative properly, but my guess is that Palin comes off as a complete breath of fresh Alaskan air, and Biden reflects what he is - a very well-versed, tenured DC insider...
'Course, do VEEP debates really hold any meaning??
