Clinton reaches out to voters with text messages
By Aman Ali May 14, 2007 Democratic presidential frontrunner Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (N.Y.) is trying to conquer a campaigning frontier, reaching out to voters via text message. Soon, her supporters will be able to receive messages such as, “OMG, Hillary 4 president is so cool” on their cell phones.
“By harnessing the power of text messaging, we can engage voters in the political process using the latest technology and provide personalized, local campaign updates to our supporters nationwide,” Clinton said. “This is an exciting step forward that I hope will continue our conversation with voters in a new format.”
Her campaign announced Monday that the new technology takes Clinton’s commitment to reaching out to voters “to a whole new level.” The campaign noted that there are 236 million cell phone users in the U.S. and that 18.7 billion text messages were sent in December 2006.
Those who sign up for the service will receive updates on Clinton’s campaign, including pictures.

I foresee this being a disaster...I am tempted to sign my best friend up for this (die hard Republican)...people that get charged for text messages that were signed up by those of us with a twisted sense of humor will NOT be amused. (I, however, will be giggling my butt off). I would only do it to someone that I knew had unlimited text messages, but I can definitely see it happening to those that get charged...
Wow, Obama has played his cards so right so far.... this just sounds like an act of desperation. Especially since Hillary is so old, she has no connection to text messaging in today's society.
