McCain Flip-flops, now calls for reversal of Roe vs. Wade

Ok McCain supporters - if you EVER called John Kerry a flip-flopper, and derided him for that, I fully expect you to either 1) admit you are a partisan hypocrite, or 2) pledge to NEVER support McCain.

McCain in 1999:
Quote:
I’d love to see a point where it is irrelevant, and could be repealed because abortion is no longer necessary. But certainly in the short term, or even the long term, I would not support repeal of Roe v. Wade, which would then force X number of women in America to [undergo] illegal and dangerous operations
McCain this morning:
Quote:
"I do not support Roe versus Wade. It should be overturned," the Arizona senator told about 800 people in South Carolina, one of the early voting states.

FLIP-FLOPPER

John McCain - unfit to be President

Poor McCain. It's no wonder why the masses don't trust him.

McCain=politician=tell the people what you think they want to hear.
He thinks he has to woo the evangelicals to get the nomination.

The good thing is most of those on this board who are partisan hypocrites wouldn't vote for McCain anyway, he's not a neocon. The few that might have voted for him, would still because they will see his flip-flop as a sign that John has seen the light.

The only reason he came out and said that IMO is because there is a large part of the christian right who are against nominating Giuliani based on his stance on abortion. John wants their votes and is willing to say anything to get them.

All his comments did for me was tell me Giuliani is the better of the two candidates for being honest about his position though not a popular one to have in the party.

McCain appears to be more popular nationally than he is within his own state. That ought to be a telling warning!

I don't like McCain as a presidental candidate. Further I would like to see viable opposition for McCain the next time he is up for reelection for the Senate.

So, wait...I'm a little confused. Are you saying kerry was a flip-flopper and it's okay to call mcain that without being a partisan hypocrite, or do you think kerry is not a flip-flopper, and you're acting like a partisan hypocrite?

Nope - as noted later in the thread, all politicians are flip-floppers. Just pointing out the hypocracy of some on this board, and in the national media who labeled Kerry a flip-flopper.

While this appears to be true at the moment, it seems unlikely that he's going to be "the guy" if he keeps going further right than the current administration.

Are there any McCain supporters on this board?

I support a lot of his ideals. Flip-flopping on this big of an issue is not one of them.
