Dinner with Barack

OK, if you are willing to part with $5 or more, you enter the "lotto" for having dinner with Senator Barack Obama. 5 people will win. Here is the official pitch from the campaign, including link to your invitation video:

Ever received a dinner invitation on video?
Barack Obama has recorded a brief message for you -- check it out here:
https://donate.barackobama.com/dinnerforfive
There’s still one day left to be a part of Barack’s Dinner for Five, and already this effort is proving exactly what kind movement we're building together.

At a time when money from Washington lobbyists and special interests is polluting the political process more than ever, the question for campaigns isn't just whether they can compete financially -- it's how they do it.
Thousands of people have given whatever they could afford -- even $5 -- to be part of something big.

If you make a donation in any amount by 11:59 pm EDT tomorrow, June 13, you could be one of four people chosen to dine with Barack. In about a month, you could sit down and share your reasons for joining this campaign and your ideas for how to keep the momentum building.
When you make that donation, you will become part of a movement of Americans ready to take back the political process and make our democracy work for the people again.

Join the movement and make your donation now:
https://donate.barackobama.com/dinnerforfive
Who knows, you could find yourself representing that movement one night soon -- sitting across the table from Barack Obama.

Good luck everyone!~

I'd like to sit down with him and discuss retaining the tax cuts while slashing the budget. He'd probably have my vote in the general election if he would keep his hands off the tax cuts.

How exactly do you expect the government to pay for the $10 trillion debt that Bush has amassed? Just print more funny money? You can’t expect to have your republican war and tax cut cake and eat it too.

I'd like to see him offset the tax cut reinstatement by cutting the capital gains tax completely.

I think he has been up front about wanting to reinstate the previous tax rate on the richest Americans.

Ever heard of a little thing called slashing the federal budget? Cutting pork and earmarks? Cutting spending? Our government is bloated, Obama even admits it. The tax rate cut has INCREASED tax revenue. The problem is the Bush administration didn't cut along with it and went on a spending spree of their own. They got it half right. The tax cuts were successful. Couple them with strong, aggressive action to cut the budget and remove the billions in earmarks and money tossed to special interests and the success would be even more striking.

The worst thing that could happen is someone come in and reverse the tax cuts, and then not cut spending either. Second worst is to reverse tax cuts and cut spending. Best would be to come in, not touch the tax cuts and cut spending.

Bush has done many things wrong, but the tax cuts were one of the few he did right. However, he turned around and effed that all up by quadrupling spending.

I don't want the baby thrown out with the bathwater. There, we both made stupid little cliched analogies.

Which is why I most likely won't be voting for him in the general election. I like his ideals of changing the way we do business in Washington and the general philosophy he puts forth in his book. I like his open mindedness. I don't like his feelings on taxes.

I don't like any of the Republicans, save Paul, and their position on the government and spending though.

It's a really crappy election, IMO. I wish there was a more electable person in the Ron Paul mode.

Did not know that the political "pork" reference had anything to do with being Muslim... Who knew?

But it could also be taken as the pork he will be giving out because of all the donations. Still though, 1/5.
