CNN Poll: No bounce for Obama?

Or, did the Palin choice create an equal bounce? Or, are convention bounces a thing of the past? (For the first time in many elections, neither Kerry or Bush got a bounce after their conventions.)

The CNN number is low compared with the other polls released at the time.

Per RCP:

CBS - Obama +8;
CNN - Obama +1;
Gallup - Obama +6;
Rasmussen - Obama +3.

The bounce is real, it just goes away really quickly.

If you recall 2004, there was a lot of hair-pulling over the fact that Kerry had a relatively flat performance after the convention. I think that as time goes on, people make up their minds earlier and earlier, and the debates/conventions/etc mean less.

Honestly, how many people on this board tuned into the convention waiting to be persuaded and unsure about their choice? Five percent? Ten? One?

Yeah, I agree Ed. The amount of coverage has just mushroomed over the years, and conventions are becoming much less important. McCain won't move up after his convention either, IMO. Not that polls mean anything really.
