Will you watch the Olympics in China?
I don't want to; I could conceivably catch some if I'm at dcr's if he really wants to watch it. This falls into my super-liberal tree hugging free Tibet side.
Poll coming...

No way I will miss Men's Basketball, 100m dash, etc. Olympics is a great time for sports fans.
If they didn't want it in there because of the whole Tibet thing, then they shouldn't have voted to have it there in the first place.

I agree. And I can voice my disapproval at their decision by not watching.
Sometimes living up to your principles sucks. This would be one of those times. I love the Olympics.

Can a mod move this to the "polls" sub-forum? Sorry I didn't think to put it there.

I don't think the Dali Lama would encourage you not to watch it as part of "free tibet" thing.

i really do not like china and it goes well beyond the tibet stuff - i find most of their policy offensive and it bugs the crap out of me how they seem to keep turning us over the barrel
however, not watching the games doesn't do crap for my displeasure over china - sure the nation is going to go out of their way to put a glossy image on everything - but the $ is in their pocket, the stadiums are built, the sponsorships are in force
by not watching an american TV station all I'm doing is harming american broadcasting companies and their potential advertisers - but even then most of that cost has been sunk already
so i'm going to sit back and appreciate an ATHLETIC competition, put my politics aside and give these individuals their moment in the sun that they've worked so hard to obtain

Exactly. It would be impossible to boycott China competely. You can't stop buying their products.... You have to put your money in a bank, or a lender, or a credit card company that borrows money from China.
This seems to be more of the chic thing to do.
