When does free speech become treason?
Article III, section 3, Clause 1 of the United States Constitution relates that "Treason against the United States shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, GIVING THEM AID AND COMFORT."
http://www.house.gov/Constitution/Constitution.html
When should news be supressed during wars and just what constitutes stepping over the line?
Good idea Djaughe.

Could you make a poll that isn't rabidly slanted to one side?

You should write polls for political parties.
Options A & B are ludicrous...which leaves only option C as the reasonable response. Thus, the vast majority will vote option C, and thus validate the intent of the poll.

I thought I covered the two extremes and give an option out in the middle.

Feel free to redo it how you think it would be appropriate. I'm going back to work.

When does free speach become treason?

Ooops sorry I was too abrasive...but it is funny you put speach.
In any event, Options A and B are silly.

Of course it can. No one will vote that option.

I can't see anyone voting for this either.

Depends on the intention of the speaker.

You can also say it depends on the speaker. This isn't a bad idea for a poll, but you could go a lot farther with it.
Media? Soldiers? Average Americans? Politicians?
It also depends on the war. I can only assume you are specifically addressing the war in Iraq so why not just say so?

Remember in WWI - the Treason and Sedition Act? It was a crime to urge Americans to not join the military - for a foreign war that did not threaten the USA.
The Permawar (tm) Profiteering Machine doesn't take kindly to anything except blind obedience.

I like the idea of the poll; I agree there needs to be more options, like D) Depends on the outcome of what was said. The intentions may not have been bad, but if it still wound up causing the US harm, then there should be some penalty for being stupid with US info.

If I assasinated the president or killed a bunch Americans - Like T McVeigh - that's treasonous, eh?
Being anti-foreign war adventure and anti Permawar Profiteering Machine is PATRIOTIC!

It doesn't just depend on the intent of the speaker; you can be treasonous without meaning to, I think. If you divulge secrets that aid the enemy in an offhand manner in conversation, that's treason. You may not have meant to, but you said something you shouldn't have and put your nation at risk.
