Spying on America-Phase one
This poll is going to have several advancing stages. Answer this one the best you can with the knowledge it's going to go further.
Note: This poll is public and all follow ups will be as well.

#1 and #2 are equal choices, so I find it impossible to choose one while excluding the other, but then is there really a difference between government and corporate business?

That was my delima in making this poll Wally. There are two areas of spying that are prevalent in todays society.
Criminal Spying- Watching or eaves dropping on potentual criminal activity that may harm the general public. This includes everything from radar guns checking your speed to wire taps and email interception.
Behavioral Spying- The tracking and data basing of an individuals habits, tendancies and movements.
It was quite apparent to me that many people were up in arms over the federal governments use of wire taps in an attempt to track or locate terrorists. But people aren't taking into account they are being spyed on every day in a manner that makes wire taps the morse code of spying.
What system is this? The frequent shopper card. Yes, you read that right, the frequent shopper card is by far the most infringing and dangerous of all spying techniques.

The junkmail you received wasn't by accident. It was a calculated move based upon your buying habits.
This is the point I'm trying to make. The general public is so ignorant of what is really tracking them and yet so distracted by W not getting wire taps approved. How short sighted people are.
The average US citizen hasn't even begun to contemplate what is happening here. Heck, the above average citizen is clueless.

I post that assuming you don't fully comprehend the ramifications. Tell me what the information possibilities of tracking you beyond if you need a coupon for toilet paper because it's been three weeks since you purchased some are. Now you may get my poll.

I can't believe so few have so little to say about this.
It's a legal tracking system that makes wire tapping pale in comparison.
It's OK I guess. Get in an uproar about W approving taps on up to 80,000 but then willingly participate by the millions in tracking yourselves.

Ramifications:
I'm sanguine about the issue because I'm never running for public office and I don't care who knows that I've shopped at an adult bookstore.
I'm cheerfully unparanoid.
