Depends on what the humilitation is and who is administering the punishment.

If she is dressed in revealing leather goods and doesn't use the damn whip, I'll consider it.

NO!

But man would be well served to not totally disregard the element of shame.

I'll help, too.

So far, I see one "No" and one "Only if it's pornographic".

Okay...Isn't judicial public humiliation ...something considered to be cruel and unusual punishment?

No problemo RC.

Okay...we got a couple of 'yes' votes going...can we have an example were public humiliation is warranted?

Some jurisdictions publish the names of men who are busted with prostitutes. I guess that counts as public humiliation.

Wouldn't publishing names of sex offenders also be considered public humiliation?

Perhaps, but at least there is the benefit of educating and protecting the public with that. The problem there is that not all sex crimes are equally heinous so a "John" may end up getting treated like a child rapist in his community.

i would consider that a matter of safety. if i had kids (or even now, when i don't), i would like to know if there are sex offenders in my neighborhood.
