RU-486 is not "Abortion on Demand" it is designed to be taken within 48 hours of sexual intercourse and does not mean that every woman/girl that takes it has--in fact--been inseminated.

To call it otherwise is a gross mischaracterization IMO. It is more akin to birth control than it is to abortion.

Otherwise it could be argued that the "pill" is a form of abortion or-- even more ridiculously--a woman who allows her menstrual cycle to pass without getting pregnant is...

but those same people don't call their own kids "kids" when they talk about not needing parental consent for abortion. they are picking and choosing that term to make the so-called victims seem more vulnerable and used.

Putting your post in large bold letters doesn't make it any less incorrect!!

How do you handle parental consent issues when you are in na rural location with limited access to courts ? In the city the child could talk to a judge possibly but it would be much harder in some places.

I agree the parental consent issue is tough, so far I see it used by the pro life movement to try and limit access. I see little concern for the girl in question or really any concern over the parents, it seems to be a convienent platform to use for the agenda.

The school trip example is to protect the school [from liability] and ear piecing is [I suspect] a school uniform issue, so neither are really relevant.

Yep. Those darn parents have no concern or care for their children.

Bottom line is that underage is underage. As a parent I have responsibility and hence the right to know/approve of what my kids are subjected to or participate in. As they get older I teach them to make decisions based on what I believe to be core values for life. So that they know the difference between what is right and what is wrong (and yes, it is my interpretation of what is right and wrong but that is my place as a parent to teach my kids and help lead and direct them).

It's a little too tricky to be OTC like benadryl or Motrin, IMO. There's a risk some women could blow off the second drug necessary, for example. Therefore, I said 'with Rx' - you call your doc or go to Planned Parenthood, or an urgent care center, or free clinic, get the Rx and instructions how to take the drug, go to pharmacy, voila!

Any pharmacy or pharmacist who refuses to fill the prescription should be fired on the spot. Filling people's prescriptions is NOT a matter of YOUR conscience.

I'm not sure I've heard that one....

What I have always heard is "bring our boys home." (...not to be sexist or anything.... )
