I understand to a point. But when you know there is a real threat to your nation and that your country had just been punched in the mouth by Japan. I dont see hwo anyone wouldnt be willing to volunteer in some capcity. Just me I guess.

LIAC is a buddist!!

I don't fit that mold. I am sure it would haunt me if I had to kill someone but it is the price you pay. I agree with you about most of the wars/conflicts. The problem is with most of the wars now they are not wars. They a battles fought hard by men and women then polititians come in and screw everything up.

Screw this pulling punching BS!!!

Heck - I really AM a Buddhist, and I'm still for compulsory military service - if you're going to have any military at all. Compulsory national service, otherwise.

Let's keep in mind, warrior Monks were not unusual in Buddhist cultures, and the entire Samurai Bushido code is derived from Zen practice. You want to talk about fierce hyper-macho self-discipline, try a Soto Zen Ango Sesshin.

I think we just saw another example of why there should be no mandatory service. When some crazy ass mother****ers are shooting at ya, do you really want someone like a poster who would have considered fighting in 2nd world war ONLY, or do you you want a hero like Shane, Harley, 40, SWD, etc?

I understand your frustration with LIAC but there are many posters I would go into battle with without concern for my back. I'll see most of them on Sunday.

well then, snatch the pebble from my hand.

Sorry, lame but probably the only connection known to most people except for self-incineration to protest war.

Yep. Seriously.

Heck, I bet most people think of "Grasshoppahh." Which is preferable, I guess.
