Sorry to be flippant, but all the babble about we have a choice because of Jesus is pure baloney. IF Jesus was the son of God, he lived and died for our sins over 2,000 years ago. How exactly is that giving ME a chance? How is it that Jesus provided anything to ME, exactly?

I am not sure how I got this response from you with my post.
But, I will try to answer you and if I don't answer your question please restate it.
First, you would have to agree to these assumptions:
1) God is the creator of the universe and all that exists.
2) You and I are creatures, created by God.
3) God does not lie. He is always true
4) God is Just. Punishing sin to it's fullest extent
5) God is Merciful. Filled with compassion.
All mankind, because of the fall, have a sinful nature that is opposed to God and hence God is in opposition to his creation. The creation walked away from God by committing sin. The punishment for said sin is eternal separation from Him. But, since God loved his creation (mankind, who had a choice and choose to walk away) He did not want them to be eternally separated from Him. However, He had to be Just yet desired to extend mercy. In order to do that, someone who was sinless needed to take the place of the sinful. Jesus took our place in assuming all of God's wrath for our sin. Hence, God's justice is satisfied and His mercy is satisfied.
I don't know if this answers your question. Again, I don't know how you got "given a chance" from my post. I was probably unclear.
