Stefan you really just don't get it do you.

Of course folks Like Jesse Jackson and L Sharpton are loons, just like Rush isd a loon.

However, after years of attacks by the far right, do you honestly expect the Democrats to give the GOP even the slightest bit of slack ? This is what you get for the attack politics the religious right has been promoting for the last decade, starting with the Clinton era.

Well the Democratic party is doing just about nothing at this point so I'd say they are giving them slack. What a sad state of affairs it is for that party right now ... ugh

So it seems that the mainstream Democratic party isn't politicizing this disaster then. I guess that that is a plus for them.

Unlike GW's almost daily photo opps now he has been accused of not doing enough

LOL, he shows up- he is politicizing it. He doesn;t show up- he doesn't care.

This just goes to show that we shouldn't give a crap about what liberals/ democrats say or think. You can never please them so don't even bother trying.

Just exactly how does it help the recover efforts when GW shows up ??

In reality it slows it down with all the Prez security but it makes for great photo ops.

To answer you Stefan, GW could easily just say he is staying out of the area to save their time but spend more time where he can be of use, that is in pushing the federal red tape out of the way.

I imagine the state should hold some culpability in this sad case of 'blame game'...especially if thier whole fleet of trucks are parked before and after the huricane.

Check out the Ray Nagin Memorial Motor Pool...some folks are so quick to make politics out of this...but this ranks up there with incompetance and negligence.

I remember the Mayor demanding "500 buses" on the radio...this is sickening.

Perhaps the school district busses were not part of an emergency evacuation plan...but I highly doubt that.

Its been noted that there are 255 buses in that one lot...over 130 buses in the other photo....imagine how many folks could have been evacuated before the disaster. At minimum you can get over 16,000 people out in one run.

Heck the kid that stole the bus and went to the astrodome crammed in almost 100.

Now here is an example of not planning...notice the oil streaks...those buses couldn't even be used to deal with the aftermath. Now their just sitting their and contributing to the poluted waters

What this whole thing may boil down to is that both the city and a state had a plan on the books for years that outlines what to do when a hurricane is about to strike... yet when a hurricane comes along - the officials react slow...chuck the plan and try winging it.

So when things go into the crapper and people are dying...those same officials go and blame the president.

btw...the pics where from this site:

I would agree but there were some on this board with criticism because he was not there or that he only flew over the area. Dammed if you do, dammed if you don't.

I would rather eveyone stay away unless they are, in some tangible way, helping.

Lack of planning. I honestly don't think the Gov or Mayor ever thought the levies would break or the flooding would happen. That is why these buses were not staged or the Superdome prepared for this emergency.

Here's a photochopped version of what it would have looked like if they parked the buses there prior to the storm.

btw...Photochop is done by someone else.

I know that all of this is 20/20 hindsight and it is very easy to criticize and normal to try to lay blame. But, it should not get personal otherwise we will not learn from this tragedy.
