So yeah sure, let the Voters and legislators should decide.

Why would anyone care about this (other than the few religious whackos who cherry-pick stuff out of the Bible - the Old Testament in particular- as their rationale)? I have never understood all the hype and hoo-ha over this.

If gays and lesbians want to live that lifestyle, why not let them. And if they are inclined to legally seal their relationship, then let them get married by a JP or a judge. If churches want to say no within their religion, then ok.

Geez, Louise...... Live and let live, ok?

p.s. just because the majority decides it, doesn't make it right. I won't bore anyone with examples.... you know them just as well as I.

i have no problem with homosexual civil unions. i do have a problem with a re-definition of the word marriage. but don't say that in a state where homosexuals already could be legally joined that they don't have the same "rights" as everyone else.

WhY? Isn't marriage just a word? "A difference that makes no difference IS no difference." So what's the difference (between "civil union" and "marriage.").

Ok.... I forgot...... There MUST be a difference.

Jerry Falwell : I really believe that the pagans and the abortionists and the feminists and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People for the American Way - all of them who have tried to secularize America - I point my finger in their face, and say, "you helped this (9-11) happen.

Pat Robertson: "Well, I totally concur."

Ok!!! With apologies to 40yearfan, "let's nuke 'em till they glow, then shoot 'em in the dark!!!"

OK, OK. I'll let you have one of my small tactical nukes. Just don't go setting it off in your backyard. The things are kinda messy.

the word marriage has a legal definition. a civil union has a different definition, but it has an umbrella that includes marriage benefits.

I sorta agree with UC - there should be no difference.

Of course if a minister or rabbi wants to make a distinction - I could care less...thats what a state sanctioned marriage is for (i.e. civil union).

As long as both 'civil' and 'marriage' offers the same rights and tax benefits - I'm all for it.

I understand that, but really, why do you care ?

It has absolutly no effect on you, none, zero what is this so important ? I really don't understand.

Agreeing with DJ and UC, we are talking about a state secular marriage' here, not what you do in your church.

They are already different, so this concept seems to change nothing. Nobody is asking your church to be required to perform the cerimonies.
