Absolutely. It would assist in slowing the spread of AIDS in this Country. Who cares if they shoot up? They are only hurting themselves. If the druggies don't have clean needles they will just use dirty ones. Not providing them is not going to curtail drug use one iota.

Why don't we give them the drugs for free too. That way they won't run the risk of getting some bad drugs either.

Or I know, give all the car thefts keys to your cars so they won’t break the ignition and steering. They are going to steal cars anyway.

Or house thefts your schedule so they will not come when someone is home creating a conflict.

Or gang banger stun guns so they wont use guns anymore.

I think they should legalize the drugs but make the junkies pay for it.

I vote yes...

BTW 40, My eldest sister is a Meth addict and it has been the saddest thing to see her decline over the past 15 years. She has been through so much and now has mental problems as well.

She escaped into drugs because of things that happened to her growing up: at the age of 9 she was molested by our next door neighbor who made her do wierd ritualized stuff ( he is in prision now serving a 30 year sentence) and she was raped while walking home at 16.

She was a good person and did not reach out for help because she felt she did not want to burden us with her problems.

These people are not all throw aways, but are in need of serious help. Even that help may not work but its worth trying.

There have been times when she has improved but always slipped back to her ways. Our family had spent themselves financially and mentally to try and help her but to no avail.

Even though she is schizoprenic and Bi-Polar the state cannont force her into an istitiution and the perscriptions they gave her were just as bad as the meth.

My mother and my sister have each adopted babies from her that have been taken away by the state. She does not even know who the fathers are and one of her babies was rumored fathered by a worker at a drug clinic who was supposed to help her with her addiction.

Her life has been horrible and it really makes me sad, but I would never advocate killing them off.

Supplying needels is not enabaling the addicts IMO because they are going to do it anyway. But to help reduce the spread of infectious disease is a noble cause.

Wow, that sucks Liac.

I favor decriminalizing drug use. Let me be clear, I am all for stricter penalties, both financially and in jail sentencing on drug traffickers. Those now profiting on the misery of others should instead be forced to pay the cost of drug use/abuse.

Practically no one wants or chooses to be a drug addict! I don't mean those who dabble, I am talking hard-core, such as Liac described.

I am all for having clean needles available to whoever wants them but I do not think it is up to the federal taxpayer to provide them.

State government health programs, charities, or other civic organizations fine, knock yourselves out. As long as the giving is voluntary and not mandated by the IRS.
