The reason I ask is I have always worked out wearing running shoes(normally Nike's) and a trainer told me it would be better to wear cross trainers if I was basically lifting and using the eliptical and stationary bike. He said I was more prone to ankle injuries if I continued to wear running shoes.
I took his advice and bought a pair of Nike Sparq Elite cross trainers and I am very happy I did. They are very light and comfortable and I do notice I don't roll my foot like I sometimes did when using the eliptical.
So, what kind of shoe do you guys wear?

I wear running shoes, but that's because I hit the treadmill before doing weights.
I guess when I was just doing the eliptical machine before or not running then I'd wear my cross trainers. No real reason, though, just the way I did things.
About the only thing I'm not frugal on is shoes. We hit the Nike outlet in anthem once or twice a year. The wrong shoe can really mess up your feet, legs, and back.
