What kind of shoe do you wear when working out

I ask this because I wear the Nike shocks and I am not too happy with them. I am looking for a good workout shoe. Looking at some New Balances and Asics.

speaking of this.... has anyone seen those strange looking sandles that poeple are wearing? They look so stupid....

They are usually neon colors and have just a plastic strap that goes around the heels. I can't add any more description that than, just think of sandles that suck and you will see what I'm talking about

I have a pair of Asics that are okay, but I'm thinking about getting a pair of Nike Free trainers:

Quote:
  • For years, athletes have been training barefoot. And they discovered it made their feet stronger. So we fused nature and technology to develop a shoe that mimics the natural mechanics of your foot. Because when your foot's in control, it's free to get stronger.
  • Mimics barefoot movement to reawaken and strengthen your feet.
  • Outsole's flex grooves allow more natural motion.
  • Upper moves with the foot and the outside so the foot controls the shoe, not the other way around.

I wear a pair of size 17 New Balance cross trainers.

For those that have big feet like me check out http://www.oddballshoe.com/cascades/homepage .

Buying shoes for me is so hard. I can't go to a mall and walk away with a pair. I try. Sometimes for laughs. But I usually get the "BRAND doesn't make shoes that big" or "we can look in the catalog".

Eastbay and Oddball Shoe supply my kicks.

I wear New Balances also! I wore the original Nikes. Back when noone heard of them. I knew some people that ran marathons, and back then with my wide feet , Nikes were the only shoe that fit me. Then sometime in the nineties, they changed their shoe forms and I haven't been able to wear them since then. I know they changed the forms because I called all the way up the Nike chain and got ahold of the actual designers. Before that I would go in and buy Nike size 10s and not even try them on. They just fit.

New Balance has several shoe forms, narrow sizes, normal, and wide widths, and also different arch sets. You can go online and find your perfect fit and order them discount off the web.

I’ve got a pair of those Free Trainers. They feel really weird at first, almost like running barefoot. When I first started wearing them I alternated between those and my old running shoes because I thought I might injure my feet with the lack of support. However, I use them exclusively now and I’ve never had a problem. They’re extremely light and haven’t shown any signs of wear.

Just ordered a pair of the Nike Free (not the trainers, just runners). Ordered from the web site, so I got to customize it.
