USDA Intake

Taken from an article posted on P&R:
Quote:
Here is what the food pyramid says you should eat, based on a 2,000-calorie daily diet:

_3 cups of fat-free or lowfat milk or cheese.

_2 1/2 cups of vegetables.

_2 cups of fruit.

_6 ounces of grains.

_5 1/2 ounces of meat or beans.
Would that get you to 2,000 calories?

According to FitDay.com (good site if you havent checked it out);

3 slices of wheat bread
3 cups of lowfat milk
2.5 cups of frozen veggies
2 cups apples
5.5 ounces of beef steak

is 1239 calories, 27g fat, 172 g carbs, 89 grams of protein.

Sounds like what I now eat in one meal!

I just read the subsidy thread over in P&R and I am calling shenanigans on the serving stuff. Plus, didnt the FDA do away with the pyramid and release something else?

2,000 calories is for inactive women. Nowadays the general recommendation for inactive men is 2,500.

My caloric intake ranges from 5,000-6,000 calories a day depending on what my body is doing, and what my goals are at the time.
