The official "I'm training for *insert word here*" thread
So, the PF changs Rock and Roll Marathon/1/2 Maration is just about six months away. I injured my knee pretty good in the last one and was out of commission for about three months. (What a drag it is getting old.)
Anyway, I figured that, if I were to do this again, now would be the time to start training again. (I certainly lost a few steps after my injury.) So, I have decided to do it again this year and start training NOW, in the abysmal heat, lol.
I think this time I'll do more weight training to strengthen my legs, which I didn't do enough of last time and which is probably why I injured myself.
Last year, I finished in 3:17:22. I want to finish in under 3 hours this year.
In any case, use this thread to talk about your training and your goals, whether it be to lose a certain amount of weight, lift a certain amout or accomplish some sort of race.

Sometimes you just gotta remember ...
The first game of two 40 minute halfs of constant running, lifting, smashing, and tackling can be a VERY nasty wakeup call if you not prepared, and sometimes even when you are.

Glad to see that you're thinking of tackling the 1/2 marathon again. I'm flirting with the idea of attempting the full this time. Part of it depends on if my company is sponsoring a team again next year. I'd better decide soon though, a marathon isn't really something that you just decided to do, it takes a little planning.
One thing that keeps me motivated to stay cardiovascularly fit is playing hoops with all the young high school kids. These kids can run up and down all day and jump out of the gym, so you look like a real asshat if you try to play out-of-shape.

Wow. Yeah, the marathon would definitely take a lot of training.
I think I will do the 1/2 again. I just gotta keep running and working out with the weights. I think that will prevent injury.
