Is Slim Fast any good??

I just started today. I wanted to have something a little more substantial for breakfast other than fruit, so I had my first SF today. But as I was drinking it, a co-worker told me that she gained weight on the slim fast plan. And she did the whole 1 for breakfast 1 for lunch, and a sensible dinner thing, which I'm not doing. Should I switch up my plan here or is a shake and some fruit for breakfast okay for me?

I’ve never heard of anyone actually gaining weight on slimfast. I wonder how honest she is being about her eating habits and her “sensible dinner”. When I’m in hardcore workout mode I make myself a protein shake each morning with a banana mixed in. It has a low carb count and keeps me full for a few hours.

Why don't you buy a box of Myoplex or another Meal Replacement other than SlimFast?? They are just quick and easy...and not chock full of sugar and fat, and have good Vitamin Profiles.

How much do you pay now?? You can go as low as like $1.75 a serving. Much better nutrient profiles than Slim Fast.

I eat the slimfast optima meal bars for lunch every now and then. 220 calories says on the box.
Seems to work for me although I lost weight on nutrisystems myself(see thread here).

Look up www.theabsdiet.com

They have a great shake you can have for breakfast. Actually the whole meal plan and exercise routine is great.

I just finished reading the book and the great thing is it details why certain foods and diets don't work. And what exactly different types of fats, carbs, nutrients, etc do.

I used to eat the slim fast bars - they were actually pretty decent.

The only shake I could drink was the chocolate ones.. but I quickly got sick of the "chalk-like" taste to it.

The Kirkland brand from Costco were much better and also cheaper than the slimfast drinks. Not as chalky

I’ll second that. I also use their protein powder. Comparable to stuff you see at GNC and HIHealth, but much cheaper.
