Ok ladies, I have a serious question. When you are on your period, if you exercise, do you find that it makes your flow MUCH heavier and you get much worse cramps? Is this normal? Is it something that after regularly working out for a couple months goes away? Am I just a freak? I have been like this as long as I can remember, even when I was a skinny teenager. I always find that for "those days" of the month, I just don't bother even trying to exercise. But when I'm trying to develop good exercise habits, having 4-6 days a month that I don't do anything doesn't help those good habits develop. Any advice gals?

Normally if I am having a heavy flow, if I work out, I actually FEEL better.. like the cramps will go away for a bit. But I dont think I've ever had it where my flow actually lessened BECAUSE of working out. That would be SO cool though!
Before I was on birth control, I would have REALLY bad cramps with heavy flow. It was so god awful - but since I've been back on birth control, my flow is obviously more regulated, but the flow isnt as heavy.
On "those" days, I normally pop in some Midol and take a good hour to 2 hour nap, and I feel a lot better. Heating pads on lower tummy and curling up to a ball also work for me, too!
Heavy flow and shitty cramps suck big time, but we are women here us roar, baby!

I went off the pill when I got hubby snipped and clipped. But I'm getting SO damn sick of irregular, heavy, painful periods. I'm half tempted to get the b.c. patch or something (I'm REALLY bad about remembering to take a pill every day!) just to regulate my cycle!!!!!

I use the generic kind and only pay 5 bucks a month for a month's supply. I havent really investigated the patch or or shot or anything. But the ones that only allow you 4 periods a year sounds REAAAALLY interesting!
When you were on BC, did you gain weight or lose weight? Cuz I've heard it does both. Personally, it's made me gain weight. That's the only drawback, imo.

See, I'm not sure if my insurance will cover it since they paid for the vasectomy. I may have to have my dr do an override w/the ins company since if I DO decide to do this, it's for regulating my cycle, not birth control.
It made me gain. Which is one of the many reasons I'm very leery of going back on it. I know there are lots of different kinds out there. The ones w/lower doses of estrogen they say are less likely to cause weight gain. And since I only need it for regulation, then it doesn't matter to me how strong the dosage is. I may be talking to hubby about this when he gets home later.

CQ, you don't have to worry about taking the pill every single day if your hubby isn't a pregnancy threat. If you miss a day or two, just double up. It doesn't really affect anything. I miss dosages all the time and, since I'm not sexually active, I don't have to worry and just double up.

Tell your doc you have a lot of pain and irregularity. Definitely inclues the word PAIN because that makes a difference in whether or not the doc will sign off on your request.
