Bad Lower Left Abdominal Pain

Was have pretty intense pain on the left side starting on Thursday, localized, intense cramping.

Spent all day in the MD's office. Prescribed Cipro for 5 days and eight Vicodin.

Got a pelvis and upper GI CT scan today, had to drink 2 bottles of Barium crap.

Results, nothing is wrong with me, liver, appendex, GI all perfect. But still in pain, in the same spot. The Cipro seems to be working a little but it still hurts. The NP asks me if there is a chance I just have gas. Gas? 5 days in the same spot?

Should I go see another doctor or take the rest of the Vicodin my doctor gave me in celebration of my alleged perfect health?

Get a second opinion. Doctors are not infallible.

I had the same symptoms. My doctor (gastroenterologist) told me that I had IBS after I had a colonoscopy. He didn't see anything. Turned out that I had diverticulitis, meaning that I have diverticulosis. The CT scan should have seen it though. If you have cramping through your adominal area and you have diverticulitis it is a syptom of peritonitis. Not good.

Ha. Yeah, that is what I was thinking too. If I were you Tree I would get some colon cleanse and see if that helps relieve the pain. Maybe you got a backup?

I don't know just throwing out a suggestion ...

It took me months to find a doc that told me my appendix had burst.

60 pounds
4 different cancer diagnoses
a tube in my stomach
no solid food for months
unable to shower for months because of the tube
with that time spent in the hospital

How long were you walking around with a burst appendix?

I thought that once that sucker blew you instantly knew something bad was wrong .... like you'd be rushed to the hospital immediately ... cause a burst appendix could kill ya ...

When my appendix burst as a little kid, I knew instantly. I was told I would have probably would have made it a couple more hours.

Besides, your appendix is on the right hand side, not the left... interesting.

It is on the right hand side, I have a nice scar to prove it.
