Good luck. Bad one to blow. For future ref, probably need to be careful about the Levaquin class of antibiotics -- they can cause serious tendon damage in large tendons like the Achilles.
Good to know. Thanks.
I sort of wish I could point to a "why" like that -- I haven't been on antibiotics, I stretch pretty good before physical activity, I'm in decent (not great) shape. Yet, here I am (again...ACL in 2006).
It was a strange feeling. I was playing defense, and turned to slide to a guy driving the cage. As soon as I did, felt an impact on my heel. My first thought was that someone either kicked me or took a swipe with their stick. I would have sworn I'd turn around and see someone standing over me...but there was no one there.
damnit.

That is textbook. Remember a few seasons ago the 49ers LB accused LJ Shelton of legwhipping him and tearing his achilles. When they saw the replay they realized Shelton never touched him it just feels like you got hit in the leg when the achilles ruptures.
The young people I work with don't understand why I spend $200 a month for my health benefits. "Go without for a year," they say. "I can't," I reply. "I'm 36 and stuff is starting to break."
