We go-ot Oh-wen! We go-ot Oh-wen!

Dismal start to the season? I was about to jump off a bridge, let me tell ya. Magpies second to the bottom, no goals, one point from four matches, with only the Black Cats below us? How much worse can it get? Or can it get BETTER? We sign Luque AND Owen in the span of days!!! We go from fighting to keep out of the relegation slots to fighting for European football next year. Bank on it.

Did you happen to watch Robinho from Real Madrid play?? This guy is just amazing. He entered the game on in the 67th minute and did whatever he wanted with everyone who tried to defend him.

No, I get very few opportunities to watch English football, let alone any from the continent. I've heard a lot about him, though, and he sounds impressive.

And we got Solano back. Nobby, welcome home...now start feeding the dangerous duo of Shearer and Owen some passes.

But selling Jenas...that hurt. That really, really hurt. Ah well. Between having Jenas or having Owen and Solano, well...duh.

Somehow I knew that Stout would have a thread on this.

Stout, I was in Newcastle when they announced this the other day. You should have seen everyone screaming and yelling. Then after the movie I went to they already had shirts out with his number and name on it.

Crazy..

I feel genuine pity for smaller clubs like Sunderland. No, I really do. My favorite MLB team is the Pirates, so I know what it's like to be a club with a lot less money. There's never a hope a player of the caliber of an Owen will join you. You have to pray you get chemistry right with a bunch of decent, average, and sometimes bad players, and hang on for dear life. It sucks pretty hard-core.

That said, I'm glad Newcastle got Owen and Nobby. But I'm also sad to see Jenas go.

oh god you have been tricked into the newcastle = big club & sunderland = small club way of thinking!!!!

newcastle have been in the prem lge for the last 10 or so years and sunderland have been in or out, thus making the financial situation very different!! but a tea like Charlton have money as does a balckburn or a boro!! - are these big clubs NO!!!

if you are taking about history then they are not too - infact of you go on history then that would Sunderland a massive club and newcastle about avrg in size.

small club indeed .........................................

did i tell you that i moved office - and am now down on the quayside, which means i dont have to look into Sid james anymore

Good that you have a new office. It would drive me nuts if I had to always be near, say, the Cowpukes stadium.

As to Newcastle? They've ALWAYS been in the Premiership, as long as there's been one. Are Charlton and Blackburn big clubs? I would agree they are not. They don't have as much money as Newcastle or Chelsea or Arsenal or Man U. What you need to understand is, when I said big clubs, I meant money.

Then again, how is Sunderland historically more of of a 'big club'? Why was your stadium so awfully empty for the first game of the season?

a lot of supporters are fed up at the moment to be honest - which explains ticket sales - as far as history goes - how many times have sunderland won the lge compared to Newcastle? ......have a look

or what are the clubs record attendances if its crowds you are interested in.....have a look

the game has been around for over a hundered years - form if temporary, class is permanent

well thats how i see it anyway haha michael bloody owen

But shouldn't ticket sales have been UP for Sunderland at the start of the campaign? I mean, you'd just been promoted to the Premiership, for crying out loud! Fed up already? Some fair weather fans!

I won't contest any of the history there. Like I said, I mean finances when I said big clubs. How much transfer money can Chelsea, Man U, Arsenal, or Newcastle muster? That makes them a big financial club. Now, how much money can West Ham, Sunderland, Wigan, or Portsmouth muster? That puts them opposite of the scale. You just have to understand what I'm trying to say, bro

Aren't the teams (sunderland and newcastle) in about equal amouts of debt?

And St. James Park isn't that bad. It looks nice and has plenty to offer around it. The stadium of light on the other hand is so far from everything... Ughh that walk kills me...

James
