A shameful performance. McShane and Halford are not Premiership players, IMO. I'm not convinced on Higginbotham either.

Better hope that Keane stays in good grace with Man U and maybe you guys can get Brown, Fletcher (Please take him) and possibly Carrick.... those alone would help get you out of the drop zone...

Big Sam is out at Newcastle after 8 months. It amazes me how fast the turnover can be in European football.

i thought he was doing a great job too

'Sky sports understand that the skunks have not yet spoken to Anal Shearer yet' ...its like saying they havent spoken to Pele, or Jesus for that matter.

A few of my mag mates will be chuffed with Sam getting the boot though to be fair.

Man, it sure does suck to underachieve and only be sitting middle of the table...I wonder what it would feel like to do as good as we could and yet keep getting relegated

Seriously though, I thought he got the axe rather unfairly. He took over a complete mess, didn't even get a full season, and had a buttload of injury problems. Too soon, too soon. Of course, if Shearah will step in immediately, I'm cool with it

Robbie Savage has accused relegation rivals Sunderland of blowing their big chance of Barclays Premier League survival after completing his £1.5million move to Derby. The Welshman said: 'If I was them, I would have gone the whole hog to get me because I'm the type of player who can keep a team in the Premier League.' [+]

Sure, Robbie. He signed with Derby County because he didn't want to move his household. If he cared about staying in the Prem. he would have signed with Sunderland.

The Cats will be in a fight for survival, but they still have a fighting chance to stay up. Derby is going down, guaranteed. Enjoy The Championship next year, Rob!

great result yesterday - happiest i have been coming away from the SOL for while i can tell you.

every player seemed to be up for the fight yesterday and it showed. Jones was a beast even though he was only about 3% fit.

the mags lost 6-0 too what a great weekend

Jean-Yves Mvoto of France

Sunderland have completed the signing of French centre-back Jean-Yves Mvoto from Paris St-Germain.
The 19-year-old defender has signed a three-and-a-half year contract at the Stadium of Light.
Manager Roy Keane told the club's official website: 'Jean is one for the future. 'We've seen a lot of him and he's a strong centre-back who will be a good addition to our squad.' [+]

Kevin Keegan has been appointed as manager of Newcastle United for the second time in his career. Keegan, 56, has signed a three and a half year contract at St James's and was there to watch a rejuvenated Newcastle Utd beat Stoke City 4-1 in the FA Cup, but may have to do without Alan Shearer as his assistant as the former striker admitted he did not envisage being Keegan's number two.

I'm stoked (tee hee) that Keegs is back in charge...man, will we start to light it up! I'm disappointed that Shearah isn't back in the mix, but someday...someday. At least Shearah is thrilled that Keegs is back in charge.

There's a circus in the town - in the town
Kevin Keegan is a clown - is a clown.............(toon long to type that one)

When i was young and had no sense, i bought a flute for 50 pence, the only tune that i could play was f£&% Keegan and the toon army.. la la la la......

its time to get all the old songs dusted off from 11 years ago.

'LOVE IT IF WE BEAT THEM.....LOVE IT' (for those that dont know it why not search you tunbe for a Denny Green type 'crown their ass' interview) - what an arse that man is/was.

still the skunks are happy for a day or two. how long will they be head over heels in love with him??

Until their next home loss. Seriously, these back-to-the-past hirings rarely work out.

I recall not too long ago that the Mags were doing back flips over Big Sam and he didn't even last one season.
