In the 100 meters Men, all three Americans, and all three Jamaicans have advanced to the thrid round.
The top 10 times are Americans or Caribbeans.
Just praying Tyson Gay's hamstring holds up. But I have such a hard time getting motivated for the sprints anymore way too many positive drug tests for sprinters in recent years.
The American track team was in bad need of a comeback, and Angelo Taylor was the perfect person to provide it. Taylor, a once-troubled 29-year-old who was laying electrical wire 14 months ago, became the first 400-meter hurdler since Edwin Moses to win gold medals eight years apart. He led the first sweep of the event since the U.S. did it in 1960 and lifted sagging American fortunes Monday after a disappointing start to their Beijing Olympics.
No advancing to the finals by any american men in any of the jumps, events the US used to own.
Sprints, sucking.
Discus/Hammer - none in the finals
1,500m - none in the finals
Well the US hasn't been a player in the field throwing events for a while now, but was great to see a gold in the women's discus.
The 100m was just bad. It happens. Tyson could have pushed Bolt if he was fit with his US trials form but it wasn;t to be. He will be back as will US sprinting. Felix will restore a bit of pride in the 200m and the 400m will be gold in mens & womens.
Would be really nice to see a gold in the 4x100m relay, that would give a confidence boost at the end of the games.
I hope you're joking, it's just a bad year. A bit of bad luck combined with the Jamaicans having a great year.
Richards just messed up again when it counts and it looks like Felix might be carrying an injury too!!!
Hopefully somebody will beat Bolt in the 200m to cheer me up and Oliver will win the hurdles to give me a good return on my bet!
Sorry that was sarcasm. Most of the suspended US track people were past their prime anyways, Marion Jones, Greene etc.
As I said drugs have just about ruined track and field for me. Now I'm reading Jamaica does almost no home drug testing so their athletes are strongly suspected of doping and stopping just in time for international events where they will be tested.
