Barcelona have been tearing teams a new one in preseason, and that has been primarily w/out Messi. Eto'o has been very impressive. I hope the Blaugrana keep him this season.

Barca should really push RM for the league title this season.

Yeah, they tore up Chivas de Guadalajara and last night destroyed the Red Bulls. They're a pretty strong team--even their 2nd team is better than most of the teams in MLS.

I was in Barcelona in 2006, did a tour of the staidum and Barcelona's Football Museum, got a good picture of the Champions League Trophy too.

Spanish soccer just is very entertaining, it has a flair that the other top leagues don't...that why it has such an appeal to a player like Cristiano Ronaldo, a better chance to play with his kind of flair and less of the thuggery you see in the EPL. I'm not saying its better than the EPL but its more entertaining IMO.

That style of football, IMO, is why until this year the national team couldn't win. It's fun football, sure, but not usually winning football. It was like watching the run-and-shoot offense in the NFL. It was entertaining, but not the best to use.

That physically dominating, long ball type of play hasn't exactly paid off for England has it? More teams with flair have won rcently than otherwise (Brazil & France most recently--both of whom had a ton of players in Spain).

Brazil is just in a league of its own as far as beautiful football, and we both know that. Not all countries that don't play wide-open football are simply long ball teams...that's an overgeneralization. Spain just hasn't, until recently, been successful with it at a national level. They didn't used to play well as a team, and their defense was always suspect. Now Aragones got them to one, which is good for them. Can they win more trophies? I remain suspect, but you never know.

Barcelona 4-0 Wisla Krakow

After the first leg of Champions League play. Samuel Eto'o with the brace. I'm so glad he wasn't sold this close season. The guy is a goal-scoring machine!

Hleb was a great addition too. He's going to make a huge difference.

Jozy Altidore came on at the half for Villarreal against Deportivo La Coruna. He's done well so far, beat a defender 1 on 1 on the goal line put a nice cross to a teammate sitting on the 6, should have been put away but mis-hit. Then just a few minutes later he gets a shot on goal that forces a save and still was close to going in at the far post. It seems the crowd loves him, everytime he touches the ball the crowd lets out a loud cheer.

20 minutes left right now....

He was left off the Champions League roster so he'll be ineligible for their stay in the tournament. They might be regretting it now with the injuries to so many of their offensive players.
