Don't like Junior anymore. Think he gets more breaks than other drivers because NASCAR likes him and so do half the fans.
Can't stand Gordon or Johnson.
Nemecheck and Petty are my sentimental favorites.
GO FORD!
That is too funny. You don't like Junior, I don't like Stewart, yet they are both on and off the track good friends. It was Stewart who helped Earnhardt in last years Daytona. Stewart catches his share of breaks too, like when he attacked another driver, and Nascar barely slapped his wrist for it. Earnhardt, Stewart, and Gordon all share those same types of breaks you talk about since the very large majority of Nascar likes one of those 3 as thier fav driver. But, we both hate Gordon, no doubt about that one! Oh, and BTW, Joe Gibbs racing drives Chevy's
Last years race....
After using Stewart's help to stay near the front all day Sunday, Earnhardt finally passed him with 20 laps left, then won the race pulling away.
"When he decided to pull the pin, he pulled it," said Stewart, who has now finished second to Earnhardt four times at Daytona and Talladega, NASCAR's two restrictor-plate tracks.
With 20 laps left, Earnhardt stopped stalking Stewart and went below him to make his move. They briefly raced side by side, then Earnhardt went ahead for good. Had anyone else pulled off the feat -- passing a strong car without the help of a drafting partner -- it would have seemed unfathomable. Earnhardt, however, makes that stuff look routine.
It was Earnhardt's first win in the Daytona 500. It came six years to the day that his father broke an 0-19 spell in NASCAR's premiere event, and three years after the Intimidator died at Daytona in an accident on the final lap.
Stewart, whose best Daytona 500 finish had been seventh, remains winless in main events at Daytona and Talladega, the two fast tracks where restrictor plates are used to slow speeds. But at least he has a very good idea of who to hang around with.
I know that JGR drives Chevys and I freaking hate it, lol! We are a Ford family. I was hoping they'd go to Ford from Pontiac, but oh well.
Stewart gets "hot head" breaks, true, but I think Junior gets a few more "on the track" breaks, ie going below the yellow line, pitting ever so slightly out of the pit box. These are things others have been called on and he hasn't. No matter, though. He's still a great driver.
It is funny that we don't like each other's drivers yet they are good friends on and off track. Would like to see Junior push Tony to a win at Daytona this year. But, as long as he finishes Daytona and doesn't fly upside down and land on his teammate, then, well, I guess I gotta smile.
Gordon ... boo! Can't stand him, lol!
You know what drives me crazy? People who drive Ford trucks and then have the big fat "8" or "3" on the back. (Please tell me you don't do that, LOL!) My sister has a Ford truck, but refuses to put an "18" on the back cause he now drives a Chevy. She's thinking about going with a 17 or 97.

Big difference between Ford trucks and Ford cars. Big difference between Chevy trucks and Chevy cars. I was always raised on the very much opinionated philosophy of Ford trucks and Chevy cars. I had a Ford Mustang once, but NEVER AGAIN!!! LOL. I am thinking about buying a Ford F250 Super Duty 6.0 Diesel, with about a 6' lift. And I think it's silly that people buy a certain make of vehicle solely based on what their favorite racer drives. There is nothing stock about a stock car. You can't go to your local dealer and buy anything close to what they race with. Jr races for Budweiser. I know you know that, thats not my point. But, you won't catch me buying any Budweiser products. Coors light, miller light only for me please. And, while I sip on those, I root for JR. So, I have absolutely NO PROBLEMO at all at putting a #8 or a #3 sticker on my new Ford truck

Gotcha!
I agree with the Ford trucks, Chevy cars. And, I agree with the "No Budweiser" LOL! Your argument makes sense and I respect that. Hell, I had a 20, 18, 12, 19 and 31 on my Hyundai so who the hell am I to talk, lol!
I will not, however, have Pepsi in my house during race season. No Jeff Juice for us!

My favorite all-time driver. It will be sad to see him retire after this season. I'd love to see him win his first Daytona 500 this year, even though I know it's a longshot.
Once I was leaving Circle K half-drunk of course, picked up a case to finish the job. As I'm leaving the parking lot and about to make a right turn onto Peoria I think, I look left and all is clear. I go to pull out and here comes this punk ass low rider sitting on the ground. It is too low to just pull straight in, so he pulls in to the entrance sideways right in front of me. I pulled out as I didnt see him as I was looking left, when I hit the gas, there he was in all his glory laughing. I thought, yea with a 6' lift and a diesel, I'll just tumble right over your ass next time
True story, and I'm stickin' to it
OOPS: Edit time I just seen you said 6 foot. Naw man, I meant 6 inches. I musta hit the wrong " " button

These are the rules for determining the running order:
Quote:
Once qualifying is over, the field is set by merging the highest ranked 35 teams in the owner standings with the fastest seven cars not in those 35 positions, in the order of their qualifying speeds. The 43rd position is reserved for a former champion, provided he is not already qualified and satisfies the rulebook's criteria. If unused by a former champion, it goes to the next fastest car in qualifying. The lone exception is the Daytona 500, which uses qualifying and two 150-mile races to determine the field.
So, just because a certain driver is NOT in the top 7, does not mean he doesn't have a top 7 car. It goes by team.
Remember, the shootout is not for points. It is merely the kickoff to the season. It is for bragging rights for the fans and drivers, and a little extra cash in the drivers pockets.
It is also for those of us fans who just can't wait another 7 days till the 500
