The Galaxy still have a lot of other holes don't they? Aside from a glut of MFers they suffer from porous defense and just traded their #1 GK to San Jose. I know good strikers don't grow on trees especially in MLS but I would think they had bigger needs. Is Pavon coming back? I know he didn't look great last year but maybe he'll be better in year 2.

Carlos Ruiz should be able to thrive as a target for Beckham though.

I'm not sure about Pavon. I just know that Ruiz is a finisher and with Beckham he'll set up a lot of set pieces with fouls and Becks will be able to give him quite a few scoring opportunities. Pavon looked slow and uninspired for the most part last season. They need to bring back Xavier and somehow shore up the defense that is for sure. It will be interesting to see how the team performs a year removed from Beckham Mania. Ruiz is the player that first got me to watch the Galaxy so I'm pumped to see him back at the HDC.

the MLS needs the Galaxy to be successful, i've got opening day tix to go see the Galaxy play the Rapids so I just hope all these players actually show up this time....

Ruiz could be a good pickup, i would imagine some of his duties are to protect Becks to some degree.. Wasn't he the one who got Ricardo Clark kicked out for the rest of the season for a retaliation?

Beckham setting up headers to Ruiz could get nasty. It is so brutal when Beckham takes a corner and Donovan tries to knock in a header. This is where Ruiz could have a major impact.

Well the Galaxy got rid of Chris Albright and then drafted Sean Franklin (a right back), Ely Allen (a forward), Brian Edwards (GK), Julian Valentin (Defender), Matt Allen (GK), Brandon McDonald (F) and Matt Hatzke (M/D)...I honestly don't know anything about any of them aside from Valentin who has played for the U20's(he started at the U20 World Cup).

Celestine Babayaro has agreed a three-year deal with Los Angeles Galaxy after being released by Newcastle United. The left back, 29, will play under Ruud Gullit, who signed him for Chelsea in 1997.
