Isn't he right? Who on the USA is "extremely good" by international standards?

US men's soccer

The men's team had a 2-1 lead with about a minute to go and the Netherlands scored. A win would of put them in the quarterfinals.

Wow. The US had that game all wrapped up, how disappointing. Now we face Nigeria without Bradley or Adu but at least we only need a draw.

I'm guessing we will see Altidore and Feilhaber starting. Unfortunately McBride won't be able to get a rest in that game which I am sure he would have if it would have been meaningless.

A couple of things...

I loved Kljestans goal BUT he gave the ball away entirely too much the entire match. I like Sacha but I think he still needs some work before he iss ready to be a full time Nat.

Maurice Edu impresses me more and more, he plays smart and he is physically gifted, I doubt he'll be in MLS much longer.

Michael Parkhurst is quiet, he never does anything particularly impressive but he never makes any mistakes either.

The problem with McBride is he doesn't create anything on his own he requires good aerial service and he isn't getting it. I'm not sure he was the right choice for this team based on who he is playing with...none of our players are particularly strong crossing the ball.

...still an "extremely good" result against "extremely good" players on an international level.

Freddy's through ball on Sasha's goal was "extremely good" and it was "extremely good" to see Jozy finishing. Bradley did an "extremely good" job helping the US side maintain control of the game and keeping possesion.

The more I see Wynne's "extremely good" speed, the more I am impressed with him. McBride really did not have the opportunity to show his "exteamely good" ability in the air as most of the crosses did not get off the ground.

Balboa stated Nigeria will be without a couple of their "extremely good" players, so I expect a close, hard faught, "extremely good" game.

Oh yea, Benfica, Villarreal and EPL clubs rarely offer contracts to players who are not "extreamely good".

Nigeria will be missing 2 starting defenders due to suspensions. Hopefully Altidore can take advantage of that.

Disgusting result to the tournament. Stoppage time goal given up to the Netherlands away from advancing and how the hell do you get sent off in the third minute? Two steps forward and two steps back.

What a disappointing end. The US was the better team than Nigeria too, that was apparent especially considering we played 10 against 11 most of the game and we had a forward/midfielder(Rogers) playing left back most of the game.

McBride was next to useless in this tournament. He couldn't hold up play he didn't win too many headers and as my complaint of him has been in the past he can't create on his own and is then completely ineffective without quality crosses being sent in to him. Nowak should have seen how this team was built nobody on the team, with the possible exception of Holden, can put in a decent cross consistently.

Kljestan has all the promise in the world but he can't maintain possesion and poorly times his passes more often than not. I would have much rather seen Feilhaber play in his position with McCarty playing out wide to start the match. Yes Kljestan scored 2 goals but one was a PK and the other was a result of a great pass from Adu. I like Sacha but he has a lot of work to do.

Maurice Edu had a great tournament. Holden was solid (especially his service on free kicks). Wynne displayed his awesome pace but he needs to work on his touch, shots and crosses...I think he'll get there very soon.

Orozco is a moron how stupid do you have to be to do something like that in the biggest game of your life..

Sasha is a joke... he led the team in minutes, talk about being over rated....

ugh... terrible...

Even though the Olympics are over, it isn't too early to think about 2012.

For the next summer Olympics, why not bring American football to the games?

Just think about, the world is ready- many other nations are striking up American football leagues and it's the right time to make the proposal.

I'm writing on behalf of weplay.com, the site that is currently hosting a digital petition for this idea.

Peyton Manning is a huge supporter of this idea, and now we need everyone else to join in!

Goto youcastcorp.com/weplay/weplaywidget and sign the petition.

Stupid idea, work on getting baseball & softball back, more countries play that and they just got rid of them.

Football would never fly.

It might, though.

And isn't it at least worth a try?
