If you took prisoners, you'd have to guard them during the games. Who is going to do that? Pop? Manu? Timmah? They are too busy playing. No, the prisoners would run around like Hogan's Heroes running the whole damn POW camp and Tony Parker would have to say "I see nooooothsing!!" at random moments.

Yes, Pop's "take no prisoners" strategy does seem very wise. Very wise indeed.
