Dovetailing off Donald's post about how the Lakers were retooling to take on the Bulls, imagine if Bird had not gotten hurt, or Len Bias and Reggie Lewis hadnt died. The Bulls might not have sniffed the finals.

I still remember watching Reggie Lewis collapse on the court, crazy.

That Len Bias article by Bill Simmons is easily his best work.

Written with Celtics-green-colored glasses, but still good work.

gee did touch on something though. There is a curious depth of hatred Lakers fans have for Celtics, and I think it has to do with the fact that they are the only team we can't best. When we finally broke through and bested them in the 80s, they still had more titles than us. They still do.

Titles are the only thing that matters...and at the end of the day they can rub it in lakerfans' faces. It's frustrating.

Maybe that's why I don't hate any team? The lack of titles for the Suns? I sure as hell don't have every other team that has won a title.

thankfully I can use a combination of celtic championship rings and indestructable parque flooring to build a defense against machine gun fire

LMAO!! That's great!!!

Did any of you have the pleasure of taking in a Celtic game in the old "Gaaden"??

We used to scalp "Obstructed View" seats back in the day for like $6.00 a ticket! Six dollars to see Bird, Parish, DJ, McHale, Walton, Ainge, Cornbread Maxwell... Even though we could only see 3/4's of the court, it was a blast!!

sure didn't - i think my mom made it there though of all things

i'm an upstate NY native - primarily a sonics fan, but the celtics are my #2 and pretty much the only thing we'd get on TV growing up

i wanted to be a more attractive larry bird and tried to patern my game off his (of course I could never come close on the basketball side)

i also love a lot of the old basketball footage - just find it entertaining for some reason - my all time favorite has to be oscar robertson - but those old celtic teams were great to watch and I'm a huge bill russell fan (although I wanted to smack him when I saw him in the owners box with clay bennett......)
