Are the Lakers even the best team in L.A. anymore?
Since the Lakers have so many more titles that just about everyone else, why do they even bother with fielding a good team now. They can just sit back and talk about how great those championships teams were.

Well I'm not a smack talker and I respect Lakers team but the injury thing... LOL do you really expect 80 y.o Vlade Divac to handle Amare Stoudemire? I do think without Divac they gave Suns 2 of the best games this year but Divac won't be much of a factor unless refs want Lakers to win and Divac flops for 6 charges called on Stoudemire. Suns would still have a chance to win though.
I do think Lakers COULD beat Suns (not sure if they will) but the injury part doesn't really matter unless IMO - Bryant, Odom, Butler, and maybe Cook (gives Suns fits) are out, and/or Lakers lose quite a few players and aren't too deep going into game.
Divac won't be able to stop pick'n'roll with Stoudemire or run court but I guess he does get a lot of calls - Hunter's length and quickness SHOULD give Divac problems as well.
I'd worry more about Chris Mihm being healthy during a Suns/Lakers matchup, Brian Grant could give Suns fits with rebounding but has never been much of a scorer and can't guard Stoudemire (no one really can). I do think Stoudemire's weakness (if he has 1) is defense and boxing out - Grant's shots from offensive rebound would get thrown out though from Stoudemire, Marion, and Hunter
I'm not really trying to talk smack but I was suprised about injury comment - you seem to be a really cool Lakers fan, you're probably pretty close with Mike though so - my brother constantly teases me about his teams (bandwagoner).
He has liked LOL - Bulls, Cowboys, Steelers, Lakers, Yankees... I could go on but my leg is getting sore.
