I think Greencard's banning was way over the top. This is another example of whose side of the political fence one is sitting on.
One month for a guy who consistently posts with humor and has a good sense at that. Some people have been jumping all over him lately and I find that extremely unfair.
The joke was funny, to some ( maybe even most ). It just comes off as political bias. Hillary and McCain are fair game. Obama is sacred. Wow. Just wow.

I agree it seems a bit much for the lame joke (I chuckled), but how on Earth do you get that as a joke against McCain, or as someone protecting Obama? That's a far reach, Wally. It was a somewhat crass joke that evenly targetted all three, IMO. Maybe the banning was for the subsequent language or something.

I can't speak for Chris Sanders, but it appeared to me that it was also for GreenCard's last follow-up on the same thread. GreenCard definitely had a bad day.
p.s. It would have helped had he identified what he was doing with the very first post. I didn't know at first.... It's become a custom here that if you're going to quote something inflammatory, you alert people to what you are up to.
To the best of my knowledge, GreenCard has never been banned before so the time seems at the far end of the spectrum. But I don't know all that Chris Sanders knows about this, either....

I think it poked at all candidates, I was suprised by the length of the ban too... There was a lot of bannable stuff in that post I guess, but there has also been a few posters using same level or worse language.

The banning is extreme, but then again the post was an attack at something. I have no idea what though as I didn't understand the meaning of the thread at all. But I admit I usually don't get Green Card's humor. I figured he must have been drunk or otherwise impaired.
Having taken two self-imposed extended breaks, my opinion (for what it is worth) is that any rules, as long as they are applied fairly, are good rules. Many of the bannings since I have been a member on here (over 5 years) seem fairly random and based on the posters standings with those that have the bannability (no that has nothing to do with the long yellow fruit). One of the largest offenders (personal attacks) has to my knowledge only been banned once. Any rules are good, even if they are strict, but they should apply to everyone equally. IMO
There's probably nothing that can be done about it, but I find it interesting that there's a political advertisement for McCain flashing at the top of our P&R forum... one showboating his POW card, at that...

I thought there was an Obama one earlier, but maybe it was this one. Just shows how much attention ads garner. As long as it isn't Billary or Nader, I can probably live with it.
If an ad gets really obnoxious, we certainly can complain about it. (Of course, while I would object to crude nudey ads, I'd be totally outvoted; so much for democracy or family-friendly.)

I would be happy if it was only Nader, but since he is the only candidate not to take coperate donations, he can not afford it. I guess we will just let the money dictate who wins the white house yet again.
